Mine lasted two days. Dealer gave me a new one. The cord with the iPod plug has its own part number. It does NOT have to be part of the kit.
I haven't had any problems with the new one. I removed the protective case from my iPhone. I wonder if the cases stress the plug and make it fail prematurely.

Mine did the same thing with the release clips... horrible design. The part number for the cabe is 72651-11 according to the destructions... will see what the cost is as the bike needs to go to the stealer for some warranty work anyway.
