has anydody use something other than the biketronics Control Interface for there after market radio i know its piug and play but 175.00 for the unit the ones for cars dont even cost that much
if your good at following a wiring diagram and tracing wires, you can get universal steering wheel control interface for $50.. just cut and wire it in.. i put a kenwood stereo in and use the face controls.. im cheap and a little lazy.. the aftermarket control has been on the list for 3 1/2 years.. someday i will get to it.
Do this interface really works better? I am going to cut the circuit diagram and 'll try to re-design to make it compatible with stereo players. If you have any built circuit, please post its pics for better reference.
I am intersted in how difficult it can be to wire in an interface but did not know there was another option to Biketronics. Where can i find a universal interface to check out?
I have answered the first part of my question by doing a Google search and found the universal remotes. Still curious about the difficulty of wiring it in.
You can get creative for not much money, depending on how much time you want to spend. I wired up the stock HD radio controls on y 2004 Road King, it took replacement of the switch housings and the appropriate switches for the volume, mode, etc. Ran them through the bars to a Deutsch connector hooked up to my detachable fairing. It was a good winter project, took my time and all worked out pretty well. here are a few pics of the install.
i just ordered my radio and after 2 weeks of reseach i think i found a interface module that will work for a fraction of the price 44.00 to be excate so here in the next few weeks when everything gets here im going to get down to putting this together got the wiring digram for the controls on the handle bars i ll keep everybody info on this
did it today was pretty simple for my brother to wire the pac module up and program took a few hrs to do since y have to put 3 resisters in and wire everything up but over all well worth it the 50.00 verse the 200.00 everything works as it should including changing the tracks on the i pod and i also have a mute on my handle bar controls now so just to let y know it was pretty easy
