yeah that whole resistor thing don't work for me. Just one more thing to go wrong with it. No thanks.... I would base your decision on whether you want AVC or not and if not, go with the HW unit. I know they're more expensive but you've got companies that will stand behind their product. Try getting customer service out of PAC. I used their (and scosche) line level to RCA adapters very frequently back in the day and anytime I had a problem with one, I simply replaced it for the customer and we ate the cost because the trouble and time to send back to them for replacement (if they replaced it at all) just wasn't worth it. Granted, there were very few that ever failed but nonetheless, it's all about the customer. Anyone can sell product.

Thanks guys. I have a feeling I will go the BT route. I do like the automatic volume control on the stock deck. I'm sure the PAC unit is overall cheaper and works fine, but I don't know if I like the idea of hacking into the harness of the bike at all. I know if done right it's not that big of a deal, but I like plug and play. I have such limited free time being self employed so time is $$$$ for me. The extra money I spend on the plug and play I will more than make up in a couple hours of work in my shop!

I am thinking of using a Sony DSX-S100 so I can store my Ipod in the radio.I know I have to use one of the kits you all are talking about. When doing so will I be able to control the Ipod itself, such as skipping songs and playlists, with the handlebar controls? Thanks

with the either the biketronics or hawg wired kits you'll will be able to maintain handlebar controls. PAC also makes an adpater that's really inexpensive as well. Any of these will also allow you to control your iPod. The differences are;

PAC - you have to cut wires and splice it in. Does not retain AVC (automatic volume control)

Hawg Wired - plug and play. you can purchase the sony plug and play harness as well. Does not retain AVC

Biketronics - plug and play, you can purchase the sony plug and play harness as well. DOES retain AVC

And you might want to concider the Sony DSX- S210X or the DSX-S310BTX as these have the 4V pre outs and the S100 is only 2V. Only difference in the 210 and the 310 is the 310 has bluetooth. I was gonna grab the S100 until I read up on the difference in why it's better to have 4V pre outs over 2V

Best prices I found were here:

The advantage the BT device has is it retains your AVC (automatic volume control that increases volume as speed increases as your HD unit does). To my knowledge they're the only one out there that does this but I could be wrong.
And a LIFETIME Warranty. Thats a good thing.
