I know with the Biketronics and Hawgwired kits they say you maintain use of your hand control functions. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I was wondering if they display on aftermarket head units...you know, the setting 0-5 for your AVC, amount of treble, bass, etc. That kind of thing. Or if some brands Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer etc., are more compatible with my OEM hand controls.
I have the sony head unit and biketronics controller. It works just like the stock setup it will desplay everything. You can customize your settings with your hand controls and switch source to.
Sony head units seem to be the most compatible however BT is the only one on the market that provides for automatic volume control retention. The AVC is automatic as is on your stock head unit but the settings for AVC are not going to be displayed on any aftermarket head unit. For this you will need to follow the instructions in the BT manual to adjust the sensitivity on it.
Do not worry about the AVC...I HATE it and shut it off....if you are in any menu on the sony deck and you speed or slow, it changes the menu settings...

dang never ran across that one.. good info Mentalmadness...
yea I was so mad one day i was riding....needed the volume to turn down and had bumped into the menus, Well needless to say I had so much distortion cause it changed something like the loudness or digital sound ****....Anyways middle of town full volume totally distorted and took me a min to get it to volume to turn it down....lol
lol Yea it was funny! AFTERWARDS! needless to say my AVC is shut off, but im used to not having it cause my radio that was in the bike when i got didnt have the AVC
I thought the Biketronics wiring and Sony HU would let AVC work properly. That is one feature I wouldn't want to lose. My AVC is adjusted to 3 bars, it lets me rock out at speed but lowers the volume at stop lights so I don't blast out my eardrums. If the Biketronics wiring adapter does random weird changes to menu settings when running AVC that would be a deal breaker for me.
as long as you ARE NOT in a menu it will adjust the volume up or down...BUT if you are on "treble" or "bass" or whatever on the radio cause you may have bumped the left control in.....then the BT adaptor will adjust those
