For example, in the NY Metro area where I am, there are probably 50 radio stations on the FM band. I don't want to hear most of them, just the ones I like. Those are the ones I've programmed in to my presets. When I press the handlebar button up or down, it scans to the next broadcasting station, which may or may not be one I want to hear. It takes numerous presses of the button and glances at the radio to get to the station I want to hear.

Scan means it will stop on each station for about 8 seconds, then go to the next, without input from the rider. The rider can stop it with the handlebar control anytime he wishes.

The OP wants to be able to go from one preset to the next preset, and ONLY the presets via handlebar control. The only way to tune in this manner is to press the softkeys on the face of the radio.

Maybe this is clearer: Preset1 = 95.5, P2 = 100.3, P3 = 101.1, P4 = 102.7, P5 = 103.5, etc.

The way it is now, after listening to P1 (95.5), when I hit the bar button up, the radio seeks to 95.9 then stops. Up again it seeks to 96.7 then stops. Up again it seeks to 97.1 then stops.

What the OP wants is after listening to P1 (95.5) to hit the bar button up and have the radio go directly to P2 (100.3). Up again and tune directly to P3 (101.1). Up again and tune to P4 (102.7) and so on.

Is this correct Gasitman? LOL, this is what I'd like to see in a firmware update anyway.....

I just want to scroll through my presets that I have set, you can see 5 of them at a time, like I want to go from 99.9(preset 1) to 106.1(preset 2) and 107.7(preset 3). These are the first 3. I cannot figure out how to do that, and I don't believe I can.

hold down the MORE button for a few seconds and the P.SC symbol comes on. Now use your right handlebar controls to scan preset stations only.

Hmmm... I'm gonna have to give that a try... The way I read that in the manual, it was my understanding (or misunderstanding) that the radio would scan from preset to preset automatically until you stop it by hitting the handlebar control. Then it would divert back to normal operation.

LOL!!! I've just been too lazy to put together a decent audio CD. That would mean I finally have to organize all of my digital music that over the years has become spread out over several computers and network drives.... I guess this time had to come sooner or later! Until last July I was riding a Dyna Wide Glide and only occasionally used an ipod when the battery wasn't dead..

Anyone else notice that the clock on the stick radio seems to run away with the time, mine is always off, I have to reset it every couple weeks.

I tried that this evening. All that does is get it to scan automatically from preset to preset, pausing about 6 to 8 seconds on each station. If the handlebar button is moved up or down, the scanning stops on the current preset and the radio preset scan feature shuts off.

You have to press the MORE softkey again to re-activate this feature.

This is a little better that the regular scan, but still not very good as you have to take your hand off the handlebar and press the MORE button on the face of the radio each time. You may as well just press the preset buttons themselves.

Oh well, it was worth a try!

One of the stupisf posts I've read recently. You can resume the pre-set scan by pressing one soft key instead of pressing six soft keys to manually scan the presets. Which do you think will take longer or require more distraction while riding?

Worse, you didn't have the grace to thank Nutz for taking the time to explain how to scan even though the info is in the manual you presumably had available to you.

And WTF is the "I tried" BS about? You confirmed what Nutz told you; the radio defaults to normal station search, and think manually scanning by pressing 6 pre- sets is the equivalent of simply repeating a single soft key press and scrolling as Nutz described. Yeah, you certainly "tried."

Thank you for your contribution.

Carl

PS: I meant to type "stupidest" in the first sentence. I find it difficult to type and edit on my iPhone.
