I just bought all the stuff I need to do a full upgrade on an 02 Ultra. I bought Polk DB651 for both front and rear. I read that these would drop in to the rear pods with no adapters but they are too large and too tall. Seems the hole is 5.25, not 6.25. 02 Must be different and not actually drop in? Seems I should have bought the 521 which is 5.25?

To my knowledge the stock speaker sizes are the same cutout up to current models. Are you sure they're stock pods? I think the Hogtune pods, the cutouts are a little bit smaller and require "reaming out" the hole.
Not the mounting hole - the hole for the entire speaker. The height issue also comes from the fact that the speaker itself does not fit flush , and the tweeter sticks way out. Stock speaker covers to not come close to fitting flush.
Where are all the old threads? Shouldn't there be multiple pages?
Good input on the covers - maybe that is the problem. I ASSumed the stock covers would work. If this is the issue I can spray them black. Probably the same if using the 5.25. Here are some pics of the issue:

On the Audio home page, scroll down to the bottom of the page, where it says "Display Options". From the drop-down menu labeled "From The" - choose "Beginning". Then click "Show Threads".
Don't worry, happens to all of us. Or at least ME.

Yea, me too......LOL....I remember when I found that...... Like where the heck did all the posts go!!
Here's a pic, shows how the polks are surface mounted and the smaller size of the trim rings. These are polk DXI's. I don't believe even the 5.25's would fit behind the stock grill due to tweeter height.
