Default hey, who had the dxi speaker grills in the tour pack?

I ran across their post last weekend and I ordered a set of DXI grills to put on my MM's, but I would like to get the chrome outer trim rings and hardware to go with them. Cant seem to find the post now! I think they had a set of Harley brand rings.

I used some #6 stainless allen screws and nyloc nuts from fastenal. You could use the stock chrome torx screws with some nuts, but I wanted to save them if I ever wanted to put the stock stuff back in. I drilled the dxi grills and lightly tightened the nuts on the back side. Then cut the screws off with a good side cutters,,,,,plenty of room.

Also.....the mm's have a 1" tweeter and the dxi's a 3/4" tweeter. However I think the mm's tweeter is a bit shallower? Maybe the tweeter will sit just beneath?

These are DXI speakers & grills with the stock H-D trim rings added on top.

Hey Dude, did the DXI covers fit on the MM651 speakers? I may want to go that route since the chrome outer ring works on that cover.

I have the MM651's front and rear on my Ultra. I have a set of the DXi grills coming by USPS Saturday. I can do a dry fit and let you know how they work out. Here is where I got mine. He has one set left for $11 shipped. Get em while their hot.

WELL, now I am not sure. I am going to have to open up the boxes and try and find out. I just realized blue has DXI650 speakers in the pods and not the mm651s like i had originally thought. I must have jumped through a couple threads and missed where he used the dxi speaker itself. Guess i jumped the gun and bought the grills to soon. I wanted to have everything here before I started this project, so it can be completed at one time.
Not trying to shift my mistake but searching these threads is getting a little difficult. Adds keep popping up over the posts and you have to close them out and i keep losing the threads It is terrible on a ipad , because when I touch the screen to scroll I actually hit a add and cause it to pop up.

After a quick look it looks like they are going to need a little modification. The dxi covers are two piece and have a ring that sits on the speaker. This ring has standoffs that holds it up off the mm speaker about a 1/4 inch. With the grill push into the ring , it looks like the tweeter is 1/2" or so below the grill. I think if i get the chrome harley rings I can drill the grill itself and not use the ring which would wedge the grill between speaker and chrome rings. The tweeter is a little wider than the inner chrome ring on the dxi grill, but when it would be mounted I dont think you could tell that and it would eliminate the 1/2" gap. I may look at grinding off the standoffs and see how the ring would work then. Looks like there might still be a gap at the tweeter.

Got my system finished up. Just need to adjusted the gains and hopefully the fairing will fit back on.It didn't the other evening and I had to remount the amp. I also cut the **** off the DXI speaker grills and they fit over the MM's in the tourpak. The MM tweeter is larger in diameter than the dxi opening , but the grill sits about a 1/16th or so above it now.The only goofy thing is the chrome ring says Dxi and the smaller chrome ring on the tweeter says mm. Iit also looks like i may have got lucky and kept my FM.
