Hello, I recently aquired an aftermarket fairing that had 6x9 cutouts and Polk db6x9 speakers. The mounting instructions were not much help for my application.
What I did was drill pilot holes in the fiberglass and used the screws that came with the speakers and screwed them right into the fiberglass and they seem pretty stout. I'm kind of nervous that over time the screws may work themselves out or worse yet damage the fiberglass.
Should I drill bigger holes and use small bolts, nuts and washers,or am I just being a big worrywart?
Thanks.
the way these bikes can vibrate, i'd do that with a dab of blue or even red loctite... Can't hurt unless you are going to replace components frequently.
another thing you can use and they work just as well as bolts and nuts is speed clips. They should have come with your speakers with the screws. Simply slide a clip onto your fairing for each hole, then run your screws that came with the speakers through it.
