UltraNutz,

Isn't the RF PBR 300X2 a Class D amp and didn't a few folks post heating problems with that (temp's well above 100 degrees)? Is that considered normal and not a overheating problem?

Not sure at all but was almost fixed on getting the RF until you did your test on the SS in this post. I just want it for the two fairing speaker set-up and am trying to get the best amp/speaker combo for a good price. So far, I'm thinking of the SS PN2.350D with Polk MM651 Speakers. That decision is based on watching/researching all your discussions on the subject.

Thanks for all your input.

No sir. They are "boosted rail" technology which they're real hush-hush about. Not much out there on this technology. The over heating issues were the PBR300x4 amps. The PBR300x2 were never an issue. To my knowledge they've fixed the overheating issues with the PBR300x4 amps as well.

I really like the way this SS PN2.350D amp performs but the PBR300x2 is also a great choice for a 2 channel, 2 ohm stable amp so you can't go wrong either way really.

3.) 4 ohm on the Pioneer vs 2.7 ohm on the Polk
4.) 90db on the Pioneer vs 94db on the Polk
5.) 360w max on the Pioneer vs 300w on the Polk
6.) 28hz - 30khz on the Pioneer vs 30hz to 25khz on the Polk

So to answer your question IMO no doubt the Polk is a better speaker spec-wise. I can however tell you that the Polks will not hit that low end bass like these BT and Pioneer 6x9s do and since I've got plenty of mids and highs with the existing Polk MM651s and BT7P1s, I opted for bass response.
Awesome... thanks for your continuous input.
Now I gotta decide what speakers best match my varied music interest...

What issues arose bridging the 520D?? I must have missed that dialog as the last I knew it would be the way to go if using 4 ohm speakers in the front fairing. At present I am using two channels of the 520D to drive two mm651's and the other two are available for future use.

Great review UN! It's hard to believe the PN2.350D is finally available. How much better is the "clarity and punch" than the PBR300x2 or is it negligible? These are two that I would definitely like to hear side-by-side with the MM651's installed.

It's mounted in the tour pak bud... not enough room on an ultra to get this and a PN4.520D in the fairing.

Does the SS PN2.350D require 10awg or 8awg power and ground?

10ga is perfectly fine. My ammeter shows (obviously with speakers disconnected) at full volume and gains turned wide open a current draw of 11 to 13 amps.. Well within the scope of any quality 10ga wire.
