I have had in system on the bike for almost a year now with everything working perfectly. On my way to Denver to drop the bike for our summer trip out west the sounds stopped working properly. My problem, on July 5 we will fly to Denver with two other couples for three weeks out west of riding and the wife can't live without music. I took the batwing off to try to trouble shoot the thing. The amp has the blue light on put the sound is not loud. I unplugged the amp and connected the out from the hu directly to the speakers and it crackles on one speaker so I think I have to replace the speakers. I took the PBR of and brought it to Miami with my to have it ckecked. I will buy both amp and speakers if I have to my fear is that the HU may be bad. Any help would be appreciated.
easy way to tell if it's the head unit is take the speaker that is crackling and move it to the other side connected to the head unit. If it plays fine then for grins take the speaker that was working fine and move it to the side that was crackling. If it crackles, the head unit is toast. If it turns out to be the head unit, you can either have it fixed or replace it. I know MontyCop05 here is about to put one up for sale...
oh wait a sec.. MM651.. crossovers involved. Make sure to take the entire side including the crossover that was crackling and move it to the other side of the head unit

Indeed. Thanks Todd.
Isaluge, let me know if your interested. My HK is working fine. Its off a 2010 Ultra. Only caveat is that I had the backlight LEDs changed to blue. I can send pics if you'd like. I'm also going to be putting up the HD iPod interface kit with the saddlebag kit. I'll deal with you for the whole shebang if you're interested. I haven't put it up for sale on the forum yet, so Ultra gave you a nice head start.
Thanks, Monty, but if the head unit is bad I will replace it with something with bluetooth capability and charge everything to 4 ohms
There's no need to change everything to 4 ohms. If you want to maximize power use a 2 ohm stable amp with 2 ohm speakers (like you have). Once you have added an amp, the HU ohms won't matter.
