Hello everybody. As you were all very helpful when I was installing this system I figured I would ask some advice for troubleshooting.
I have a 2013 SG with stock head unit, RF 300x2 and MM351's in fairing.
The setup was working perfectly until About 2 weeks ago when the sound started cutting out and in intermittently. This would happen when bike was parked or moving and at various volume levels. Last Thursday night, the left speaker got extremely distorted - especially at lower volume when it was not not distorted, but plays at a much lower volume than the right. The louder the volume the better it sounds and the volume levels equalize at around 1/2 volume level, although it it still distorted. Right speaker is fine.
I pulled the fairing and checked all connections prior to last Thursdays problem. Everything was ok. I plan on upgrading to a 4 speaker system but want to get this all figured out before I buy additional equipment.
Try swapping left and right speakers. If problem moves to right side after the swap, then the obvious solution is that the speaker is bad. That's where I would start. If problem persists, then speakers are fine and it is somewhere in the amp or your connections. There are smarter people on here than me that can help troubleshoot your amp, but I know that is the first thing you need to do.

Hey ultra. Thx for checking in on this. Have to work late the next couple of nights. I'm planning on trying this on Friday. Will check back in and post results.
Ultra...I will always defer to you and GP for the more technical aspects. Just trying to pay it forward for all the help you folks gave me not so long ago.

Well I just got around to dealing with this issue. Over the past couple of weeks the problem has gotten much worse. Both speakers are extremely distorted and the minute I raise the volume past a few bars the stereo cuts out.
I jumped the amp out of the system and it did the same thing. I'm thinking defective head unit?
