i have an 07 heritage that i installed a 08 street glide fairing with hk radio and hand controls. since no wireing harness is made i had to wire it myself but i cant get any volume every thing else works including the speakers, i hooked them to an ipod to test. the only wire i did not hook up was for the serial bus, that go's to the speedometer, turn sig module, and ecm. i suspect this to be the problem but im not sure. the softail harness has a wire that is the same color lgn/v that goes to the same terminals. if anyone thinks this is my problem, and would i harm my system by hooking this up, thanks for help
Maybe as simple as being sure that the "Speaker" switch is in the correct position. On my '08 ultra if you see the "Headphone" symbol on the radio display change the switch position to another setting & then you should hear the audio from the speakers.
I wish it was that simple Daytona! It doesn't matter what position the switch is in, I'm getting sound. Just garbled.
To clarify: the C/B transmissions sounds like Charlie Brown's mom! Incoming transmission as well as my riding buds saying my out going trans is unreadable.
I have a 2007 ultra going down the road radio sound will quit but radio stays on.The only way to get it back is to shut it off and turn it back on then it may last all day or maybe a mile.I checked for codes and itr has none any help would be appriated.
I seem to have a different problem than anyone else. I washed it today. When I was drying it, I noticed the backlight was on. When you turn the ignition on, radio/CD works fine. Turn the radio off and the time is displayed. However when you turn the ignition off, the time goes off but the backlight stays on. I'm concerned it will drain the battery. The only way to get the backlight off is to remove all power from the radio. Tried to run diagnostics. I get: U1301, J1850 stort 12v, speed=0. Anyone Ideas/help?

Well I'm no elec tech but since it coincided with washing the bike I would be inclined to get a hair dryer, pull the fairing, and put a bit of drying heat onto the radio from different angles.
Could be water ingress causing this-- but then again maybe not. I suppose a call to Iron Cross Audio wouldn't be out of order for a quick ask. they are certainly a helpful company.
Harleypingman,
Thanks for the information, My radio installed an Amp and got the DTC's B2017 Front speakers open (but see Note at bottom of thread if you've installed an amplifier.) . What can I do? The link you post above had died!
Appreciated!
My right rear speaker doesn't work. Plugged it in on left side and it works. Must be wiring? Also the sound cuts out at times no matter what mode I'm playing. 07 ultra classic
Lord, lots of digging and I found something that pertains to my problem.THANKS! All of my buttons seem to be working fine, just have the loss of sound through the speakers, which the dealer says lies in the head unit.So I need to know if its worth sending off for repair to Iron Cross Audio or is there a compatible head unit ??

Just bought my 07 and it is doing the same thing. I get mine to come back on by rocking the panel switch from the middle position to the down, lighted position. Haven't read through all these posts yet, is this a common problem? Got a warranty but hate to waste a day at the dealer if there is a quick fix. Switch problem or a loose wire? Doesn't go off with a bump, just random and rode 5 miles to see if the sound would come back by itself, nada. Did notice if the compensation was turned up (more lines) you can still hear it a bit, so not cutting out all the way, just muted.
So after reading some posts here...on the sound cutting out issue or any issue...run the diagnostic...run the update...take to dealer while under warranty...then throw away and get a different radio?
