Is it possible to fit a HK Radio into a 2004 FLHT?
Friend of mine is looking at installing a Harmon Kardon radio off a 2012 bike into his 2004 FLHT... which seems to have a different connector (Radio-Sound radio?)
Is there an adaptor harness out there?
Should be plug and play I put 1 in a guy at works bike it's a 99 ultra and radio is out of a 2009 street glide it plugged right in his cb connector and stuff didn't work but the sound was all good
I had an HK head unit in my 05' electra glide classic which originally had the radio sound unit and it worked just fine............I dont see why it shouldnt work!
Forgot to mention it's a 2004 CVO if that makes any difference... Hogtunes has a special note on their site for 2004-2005 CVO's, but does not mention what that difference is...
it's a plug and play deal.. there are 2 differences
1. as stated above CB is internal on the older Radio Sounds units and external on the newer HK units so CB funtion will be lost. There is a way to get the newer CB module to work with the older wiring but don't know specifically how to do so myself.
2. speed sensor for AVC on the Radio Sounds units are analog, speed sensor for AVC on newer HK units is digital. This can be changed on the HK in the diags of the radio.

The CVO has two harnesses. The black one is the normal 23 pin connector, the gray one is a 23 pin connector for the amplifier and speakers. You will use the black 23 pin connector and untape the speaker wires taped to the harness of the gray connector. You will need to install 2 ohm speakers, as the factory ones are 8 ohm.

Sort of plug and play, with the exception of the speaker wires. If you simply plug it in on an '04-05 CVO, you will stare at the radio for hours trying to figure out why there is no sound. Don't ask me how I know this.
