badazz - i don't do anything except listen to them. Didn't go full volume right out of the gate, but did crank them pretty soon after install. 30-1hr commute for a couple weeks = a good break in IMO.

And best of yet - any issues... they have lifetime warranty! Talking with anyone at BT has been easy and very confidence inspiring. I must've talked to Bill for 3-4 hours total before i even bought anything... very impressive service!!

No, They are 4 ohm as opposed to the 2 ohm Hogtunes. You will need to change the Amp as well.

As a side note, I just upgraded from a Hogtunes set up with the tweeter bar to these speakers with the SS 4.520 amp, and Sony DSX-S310BTX Radio. I could not be happier. I kept the tweeter bar as part of the system as well.

After looking at the specs for the amp, yes sir these should work fine. What Red-Line is referring to is matching components ie. 2 ohm amp with 2 ohm speakers but it's not always a necessity. You can always go up in impedance/ohms, just not down. You'll wind up turning the head unit volume up a tad bit more to achieve the same volume as you would using a 2 ohm speaker but that amp has more than enough power @ a 4 ohm load to drive these speakers and with the additional surface area of the speaker itself, you will certainly notice the difference. Those HT amps are pretty stout little amps. You can always go this route now and later on if you decide you need more power, then upgrade the amp to something like the PBR300x2 or the PN2.350D.

Thanks for clarifying Ultra. I still didn't have my morning coffee when I wrote that.

What I wanted to say is that to truly get the most out of these speakers, he would need a more powerful amp. I'm not sure what the HT amp puts out @ 4ohms, (definitely less than the 70wx2 @2ohms it puts out) but I can't see it delivering enough power to these speakers to make them shine.

you're correct sir.. more power is always better IMO. you can always back gains down if needed. And these speakers certainly like power just as the Polks do to achieve that "shine"

According to specs it's 70x2 @ 2ohms and >50x2 @ 4 ohms whatever > means. Love some of these specs.. There are 2 things that concern me with this amp.

  • no fully selectable gain controls, only a selectable -3db, 0db, and +3db switch. That don't work for me.
  • >66% efficiency rating. That's a pretty low rating IMO. These bikes now-a-days have roughly 50 - 55A charging systems. You can be pretty safe in guessing that 50% of that total amperage will be taken up by the bike's electrical system so that leaves only the remaining 50% available to accessories such as added lights, chargers, amps, etc. That's only about 25A. This is where efficiency IMO plays a big part on these bikes. The higher the efficiency rating the less the amp has to work to achieve a "suitable" sound level and also the less heat that has to be dissipated. The efficiency rating in this case means that if the amp draws a max of 25A then only 66% of that amp draw is actually realized at the outputs of the amp and 34% of it is basically being dissipated as heat, wasted energy. So that means with this setup only a max of 16A of amperage draw is being utilized to actually create music hence the reason for only a 15A fuse on this amp.

So far so good....still have not raised the gains but they are louder than the bike... still not quite as clear as the polks but hey for the road they are great.
