Looks like Nutz made a good point regarding fitment anyway...

Below is the stock Harley speaker next to the new Kicker PS5250

As you can see the outside dimensions are not even close, neither are the bolt holes so...I think before I go any further I'm going to try and find a 6.5 or 6.75 inch set of marine coaxials. I could make an adapter plate but that kind of work could get time consuming (I have access to a sheet metal shop with a laser though)...still I think Nutz point about the larger speaker is valid just need to find 2ohm marine grade speakers.

Here's a shot of the speaker pod itself..the inside diameter of the speaker POD is 5.63" while the outside diameter of the OEM speaker is 6.63"

This should help anyone looking for speakers determine if they'll fit - your replacement speaker should be close to those dimensions.

That looks like a decent speaker, that is waterproof but, it is pretty pricey at $389.99

Here is a better option (IMO) I found last night that is the correct impedance (2 ohms) has high power handling (if you want to add the Rockford amp) and should fit the newer speaker POD. Downside is it's not technically waterproof but you could buy 2 pairs for less than the J&M ROKKERS above and it's a reputable brand (Infinity)

Yes there are definately choices. Of the ones you mention above the only one that might be a good option (Polk) is still not the correct impedance for the newer radio. Granted it will play and will probably sound good but, I'm a bit of a stereo nerd when it comes to specs.

The Infinity Kappa 62.11i has the best all around features/specs/price so I went ahead and ordered a set. I'll let you know how they turn out.

I searched high and low for marine speakers but none met all the requirements. I'll give you this Nutz - you got me thinking so I went hunting.

The Kicker speakers are boxed up and ready to be returned.

once again.. those are examples of what WILL work.

Here's my take on this. Ignore the 2 ohm 4 ohm thing.. I understand you like specs. but nonetheless.

If you're going to do this all at once, it's a whole different story.

If you're going to piece it together as time and funds allow, do your speakers first regardless of their ohm spec. This sets the stage for your futher upgrades.

and the one speaker you opted to "pass" on.. is one of the best speakers made!

Unless you have some beef with Hybrid Audio Technologies and being from the audio side of the world you should know that Scott and his team @ HAT have built more systems with their own components and won more IASCA, USACi, and MECA competitions than any other manufacturer since RF introduced the original "PUNCH" series of amps and subs back in the 80s.

Good stuff..

Just a little FYI, the speakers needed are 6.5 as stated, but if the Tweeter sticks up and out above the cone it will hit the stock speaker grille in the faring....first had experiance.
Ordered the Polk DB651s, hope these work.

Well now I've done it..I've pissed in your wheaties! Sorry didn't mean to offend anyone or their choice of equipment! I passed on Biketronics mainly because I've never heard of them before.

Didn't want to get into a pissing contest about what audio is best or which path to take blah blah. I just wanted to slap a set of better speakers in my Glide man!

I'll try out the Infinity's for now but who knows, if I hate them maybe I'll look into the Biketronics stuff (lifetime warranty is impressive!)

oh and I've done a little IASCA competing way back in the day. Built many high-end car systems too but what do I know
