Default 2014+ Short and Long Term upgrade solutions

Obviously new to this, but been reading these threads. I just bought a 2015 RGS, waffled on the Boom Stage II components with my accessories and, after reading all this, glad I waited.

The stock speakers are horrible, IMO. But I LOVE the 6.5 head unit itself so far. So I'm thinking pop some better fairing speakers in for now while the MoCo figures out all these Flash incompatibilities. To that end, some questions:

1. The Infinity Kappa 611i's get talked up alot here, and I have good experience w/Infinity in auto installs. Do these go into the RG fairing w/out too much trouble? (holes are the same, fit, no depth issues, you can put the stock grills back on, etc.) Will the stock radio amp push these ok w/out an external amp? Would I need a dealer flash update if I just stick the speakers in here w/out an additional amp, or plug and play? If I added say that Power Acoustik RZ4-2000D what additional issues (flash, other) come into play over just a speaker upgrade?

2. I ordered the bag lids w/the speakers, thinking I would buy the Stage II 6x9s. Can I get grills somewhere for the HD speaker bag lids without purchasing the HD Stage II 5x7s?

3. If you want a four speaker system that is better than full Stage II setup with relatively easy install, would installing 2 Boom amps and hooking up to better (non Stage II) speakers solve the whole Flash problem, or are there additional issues w/the 2 channel/4 channel set up they are designed to work with on the Stage II speakers which would be incompatible with non HD speakers?

4. J&M makes this: ROKKER XX EXTREME 500w 4-Spkr/Amp Kit 2015 Harley RXEK-500SP4-15RG for the RoadGlide, I saw some You Tube videos comparing it to the Stage II setup, they claim theirs is superior (of course). It's pricey $1840, but they market it as compatible. Does fader work with this setup? (Full head unit functionality/usability is important to me) Would this be a good way to go? Does Biketronics offer a comparable premium four speaker setup?

Sorry for all the questions, hopefully one of you gurus will be able to help!

Hey guys I just got done reading all 3,287,719 pages of this thread. A lot of good info. I'm wondering if anybody has tried the cycle sounds stuff other than just the magic box? I got their 6.5's and 4 channel amp along with the full wiring kit and magic box for my '14 SGS. Install was pretty simple, had to solder some connections but no big deal. The sound is pretty good but not really what I was hoping for. It's pretty loud and a lot more clear than the factory set up but I think I actually lost bass from what it was stock. I spoke wih Ed from CS and he had me try a few different things to try and get some improvement but nothing worked. They're sending a new amp and magic box to try thinking the ones I have may be defective. Have any of you had any experience with these components? Just trying to figure out if I'm expecting too much out of this or if I should've went a different route. Thanks for all the info you guys have shared so far it was interesting reading.

Went to a local dealer today, showed them a screen shot of the "flat EQ" that was posted here. Not only couldn't they do it, no one there had ever seen or heard of it.

Great.

On mine I just ran the power and ground from amp to batter under the tank. I just unbolted tank and lifted it a couple inches and ran the wires. Only thing you gotta watch out for is bolt the tank down before you hook up the wires to either end. Then slide wires back and forth under tank to verify they're not pinched. Hook up to your battery then cut the other end to length and make your connection at the amp. Very simple.

All installed. When the Batwing went on the BT 7.1-s came alive. The Polk DB in the rear were also alive and full of Base. I played with the unit and found that even though their is no sub attached the sub control also works. I eventually settled in at 75% Sub / 65 % Mid Base / 55% Mid / 85% Treble. It sounds very full and strong. I took a short ride around a mile or so as it is Booming and light rain. I did not notice any difference in sound other than the wind and road. I'm sure as UltraNutz states their will be some change. For this short ride I did not notice it.

The Unit is a Line Driver and a 4 band Eq. This Line Driver bumps the Voltage to the amps to around 7.5. I was getting from the Head Unit around 1.9 to 2.4 at times. This I'm sure explains why the unit shows large gains in power and is still clear.

I still have the Flash from the dealer
. At this point the system out performs the last system and I'm sure the BT 7.1-s and the Line Driver / Eq. is the main reason. I'm sure that if I had placed the same Line Drive / Eq on my 2012 their would have been a large improvement.

To answer a common question with these 2014 units and Flash. I have clean strong Base that I did not have even on my 2012.

After several rides it is clear that the DSP makes adjustments while riding and im sure it is based on the speed at that time. I adjusted the Amps gains and the Line Drive / Eq. Gains down about 15%. I had way to much power and I felt I was overdriving the Amps. I turned the Line Driver / Eq. Volume to 50 %. I placed the Treble back at 75 % and I am still playing with the Base / Mid Base & Mid controls to compensate for the DSP while riding. The sound is still miles ahead of before the addition of the Line Driver / Eq. I still have complete control of Base / Mid & Treble. I question whether we will ever find a suitable flash to shut down completely the DSP. I am happy with my sound reproduction but very unhappy of what I had to do to get to this point. I look forward to the replacement of the Head Unit when a double din mount becomes available.

Default Magic Box

Just sent an email to cycle sounds and Ed called me back in 20 min (850pm on a sun). He explained to me in tech terms what the magic box does, how he came about designing it and what the stock radio spits out, why it distorts preflash and why it sounds lame post flash. I wish i called him in January. I am reflashing back to stock and getting the magic box. Its gonna do what I want and I also learned what i should be expecting. Theres also a good chance I may put the PBR and Polks in my Tahoe and buy cycle sounds amp and speakers.

Thats what I did. With the magic box, my RF300x2 has to be set a little higher than usual. 7-8 vs 5-6. but, NO iffie flash, and good sound. I had the kappas, but traded them in for some focals 2 days later. I dont know if it was the magic box or what, but the kappas had little to no bass. The focals are WAY better.

My understanding of the Clean-Sweep device is it's real-time adjustments. IE. as the crappy signal out of the stocker head unit changes, the CS makes real time adjustments to that signal. At least that was my understanding talking to JL techs a couple of months back.
