Thats what I did. With the magic box, my RF300x2 has to be set a little higher than usual. 7-8 vs 5-6. but, NO iffie flash, and good sound. I had the kappas, but traded them in for some focals 2 days later. I dont know if it was the magic box or what, but the kappas had little to no bass. The focals are WAY better.
Just sent an email to cycle sounds and Ed called me back in 20 min (850pm on a sun). He explained to me in tech terms what the magic box does, how he came about designing it and what the stock radio spits out, why it distorts preflash and why it sounds lame post flash. I wish i called him in January. I am reflashing back to stock and getting the magic box. Its gonna do what I want and I also learned what i should be expecting. Theres also a good chance I may put the PBR and Polks in my Tahoe and buy cycle sounds amp and speakers.
please follow up with us on this.
Looking at the design of this device (took me hours to get through all the coating inside that box and get to it's components), it's nothing more than a passive crossover (couple of coils, couple of surface mounted resistors, couple of surface mounted capacitors). Will work perfectly fine (to some extent) sitting in your garage but once you get moving and the DSP in that head unit is changing as speed increases and decreases, it does nothing more than what it was doing sitting still in your garage.
I would think twice about the amp and speaker combo you speak of. Much as I hate to say it, you'd be better off with the J&M stuff.
Went to a local dealer today, showed them a screen shot of the "flat EQ" that was posted here. Not only couldn't they do it, no one there had ever seen or heard of it.
Great.
not sure what part of this surprises you. :-)
issues arise like this when you have a manufacturer (HK) that doesn't communicate with the reseller (HD) and vice-versa. I bet HD right about now is wishing they had left well-enough alone.
MOCO has no clue what the hell to do nor do they seem to give 2 chits about leaving their dealers and techs to fend for themselves with the wolves
Dealers have no idea what the hell to do
Techs are caught in the crossfire between dealers that want to charge a customer for something and a pissed off customer when they realize it's only gotten worse
blah blah blah.. just chasing their tails at this point.
Got the Cleansweep in the mail today. So far I have it mocked up and hooked up. Good news is that it looks like its going to fit under the fairing right on top of the radio with my BT4180 amp. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to get the damn radio to read the calibration cd that comes with the Cleansweep. So far no luck. I burned it to my computer and have already tried using my 32g thumb drive with no luck. The radio won't read it. I dumped the cd files into iTunes and created a playlist of the CD on my iPod, and also burned it to a different thumb drive. Going to try those now. More to follow.
Definitely looking forward to your report Chris, especially at speeds.
As for the audio tracks
use something like PowerISO to create an ISO image of the CD
then use PowerISO to extract that image to the flashdrive

I guess is POSSIBLE. But when the speaker is taken out, replaced with the other. No adjustments to the amp in any way. and the sound is that extreme of a difference. With huge bass improvements. I have my OPINION, and is IS the kappas. Many here have said that same thing. That they, (the Kappas) lack bass. Im no different. THE kappas are a much better speaker than stock, yes. Maybe the amp and speaker combo? sure, that might have a play as well. But this is also a $300 speaker vs a $100 speaker. So I would assume that there would be a higher level of sound. But to each his own. SOUND is only as good as the specific person feels it to be.

UGGGHHHHHH. I just want something that sounds good and is loud.I know if i ripped this stuff out and put it in my truck it would sound great. Its SOOO discouraging. is there a known difference in the 4,6 or 8 speaker flash sound?
The whole reason I bought a 14 was for the GD radio!!!!! I coulda got a nice 13 and done everything to it right away
