The Official 2014 audio upgrade thread
Is there a thread on how to remove the stock fairing speaker pods? Did a search, but have had no luck.
Thanx in advance,
Paul
If you are trying to remove the front pods start with posts #50, #130 & #137 of this tread. There is a lot of info in this tread just gotta wade through it.

The kit includes everything to install but switched out 12-gauge mains with 8-gauge direct from bat w/30 amp fuse off battery. No factory wire cutting w/kit
Here's a picture of amp install.
Curious what are you running your amp at high pass or full? Also what is your crossover set to? I can adjust gain based on my preference but currently i have mine on full and cross at about 150 it sounds good but to avoid distortion i feel like im not getting the volume i should be?
I have a 2014 Electra glide and am planning to install (on a budget) the following equipment.
- Rockford fosgate PBR300 x 4
- Polk MM651 front fairing
- Alpine SPR60 rear pods.
Are there any reasons this system shouldn't be:
1) easy installation, except for maybe a few mods for the amp bracket
2) Plug and play
3) no other accessories except maybe a wire, connector, or miscellaneous adhesives.
Any other information would be great from you guys-
thanks

1. easy, yes pretty much. just take your time
2. the only way to make this plug and play is using customized wiring harnesses made specifically for your install. To my knowledge the only company out there making custom (to your specifications) harnesses is V-Twin Audio and they're not cheap.
3. yes other stuff is required.
so here's my thoughts.
If you're going to use that amp, you'll need to select a different pair of speakers for the fairing. The amp is only stable down to 4 ohms and those MM651 speakers are 2 ohms. You'll wind up with an amp that overheats and clips on you. The rear pod speaker selection is fine with the SPR60 as far as function is concerned but with that being said, my suggestion based on experience and lack luster performance of that amp is find another amp to use for your project. It's only stable at 4 ohms and is lacking in performance. Those SPR speakers at 88db sensitivity are going to want to see about 100w of clean usable power to make them shine.
The other thing you're going to need regardless of which amp and speaker choice you make is this line leveler from Biketronics that will clean up the crappy audio signal coming out of the stock radios on these 14 and up models.
Hope that helps bud.
Any budgetary install suggestions.
I am not a music/clarity aficionado, so I can live with a lot of irregularities. Although, I have to say, I don't like distortion.
1. if you use that amp, it much prefers to be used with speaker level inputs which negates the need for the BT Line Leveler
2. If you use speaker level inputs instead of RCA inputs then you have no control over what the system will sound like because you're not using the line leveler to "condition" the sound before it gets to your amp.
IF, and I say it again, IF - FM reception is not important to you then there are a lot of amps you can choose from that are economical and powerful enough to drive 2 pair of those SPR60 speakers. Soundstream PN4.520D is one, Power Acoustik RZ-2000D, among several other class D amps. But be forewarned and it's hit or miss at best; you might lose or degrade your FM signal by using some of the class D amps. Just the nature of these amps. BT among many other vendors here and on the internet has figured out the FM issue and their amps don't interfere.

UN I'm running the RF PBR300x2 and infinity speakers like so many others on here are doing. I'm currently using the magic box rather than a flash. Would you recommend I get rid of the magic box and place the BT355 in its place?
