Trying to determine if a magic box is a better alternative option . Thank you
Depends on where you go, I ended up having it as part of the deal (which I haven't used yet) Down in south Seattle/Renton, they actually did it for free when I started talking to the service writer. Most places will, however, charge you about a half hour. I used to think it was really quick, but it did take about 15 minutes to get it all taken care of.
Keep in mind I'm not happy with my flash AT ALL (135_OFF/ON.BIN) and once we have a ironclad way to get to Built In Flat EQ or 02_OFF/ON.BIN, I'll leverage the time I have with where I bought the bike from.
Hello everyone,
Anyone tried Alpine SPR-60 or JL Audio C2 on your 2014/15 batwing fairing models? I would like to just drop the speaker to the pods without any mods.
I have SPR 60s in my rear pods now. That is, until this weekend when the brown truck brings my new biketronics 7.1 pros. Then the 6.5 Titan IIs currently in the fronts will go to the rear pods. So my alpines might be available for sale after that...they held up well so far. I can't say as much for the polks and kickers I've used. Oh and yes, the alpines are drop ins. No mods required.
Monty, are you still using the magic boxes? Do you feel they are a good alternative to the flashes?
Yes. At this point I'm still using the magic boxes but I'll be doing some tinkering this weekend hopefully when I swap out my speakers. I don't know if I'm going to bother with a flash right away...in fact I know I'm not. I'll wait a little while until the MoCo gets their chit straight with this boom stage 2 crap. Right now flashes are a PITA for everyone (customers, dealers, and techs). What I will do is mess around with and with out the magic boxes, as well as mess around with the new adjustables I'm getting from bill at Biketronics. I'll report back when I have more...

Excellent, thanks for the info. I have a BT system( 4180, 7.1 pros and 6.5 Titians, Vtwin spacers) sitting here ready to install but don't want to start until I am sure that something will work to make it sound better than stock. I will await your results. Thanks again for your help.
I just installed a Equalizer / Line Drive ( Autotek 7007 from SonicEle. ) Wow !!!!!!! I have my tunes back. Full control of Base / Mid / treble. I run the front channel only to the Line Drive. No rear channel used from the Head Unit as Harley has the signal going to the back different thru the DSP settings. Then ran the Front and Rear of the Line Driver Equalizer to my Amps. I have the Line Drive gains set at 70% I have the Amps,s gains set at 70%. I have the Line Drive Volume set at 60% and what little Treble and Base controls on the Factory Head Unit set at -0-. I will still need to fine tune the Line Driver Equalizer. I have all the Bass I want and all the Mid and Treble. In fact you can not turn the Bass or Treble all the way up. I have them set at this time around 75% and the Mid set at 50% or dead in the middle. I will mount the Line Driver / Equalizer in my Trunk powering it off the built in 12 volt plug. My Neighbors all had to come over to hear the Jams coming out of my Garage. This is a ridiculous way to correct Harley but it works and works well. I can say the system now sounds better than my last one on the 2012 with the same two amps and Polk MM,s. I did not turn the Head Unit up more than 50% and it was very loud and clear. As my wife listen I adjust the Base and Mid and Treble and the control was very good. I will post pics of my install when I finish today.
I can finally cruse and Jam with great sound and clarity.
I would like to hear your thoughts sir once you take it for a spin for a few miles. These DSP circuits are changing with speed is part of the problem..
Also what Line Drivers are you referring to above?
They do keep the wind off of you which helps hearing the tunes a little better. Mainly I notice less wind on my face and less head buffeting combined with the 8.5" windshield. Have heard the fork fangs add another layer but haven't found any I like yet.
I noticed you had your stock seat modified. What did you do to it and how does it work? How tall are you and how does it feel on long rides? What package did you go with from the seat guys?
All installed. When the Batwing went on the BT 7.1-s came alive. The Polk DB in the rear were also alive and full of Base. I played with the unit and found that even though their is no sub attached the sub control also works. I eventually settled in at 75% Sub / 65 % Mid Base / 55% Mid / 85% Treble. It sounds very full and strong. I took a short ride around a mile or so as it is Booming and light rain. I did not notice any difference in sound other than the wind and road. I'm sure as UltraNutz states their will be some change. For this short ride I did not notice it.
The Unit is a Line Driver and a 4 band Eq. This Line Driver bumps the Voltage to the amps to around 7.5. I was getting from the Head Unit around 1.9 to 2.4 at times. This I'm sure explains why the unit shows large gains in power and is still clear.
I still have the Flash from the Dealer. At this point the system out performs the last system and I'm sure the BT 7.1-s and the Line Driver / Eq. is the main reason. I'm sure that if I had placed the same Line Drive / Eq on my 2012 their would have been a large improvement.
To answer a common question with these 2014 units and Flash. I have clean strong Base that I did not have even on my 2012.
Bah....brown truck won't be here until Wednesday...I'm spoiled by Amazon prime.
Anyhow I'm very intrigued by you guys that are messing around with the external line driver/DSP equipment. I will be investing in one I think. It seems then I'll never have to worry about a Dealer flash again....now if only there was one that would fit inside the fairing...
