Same here. The audio in the RGS is fine for now, my ears are finicky, but my back is even more discerning. I think the tall windscreen, hammock seat, and other creature comforts will be more valuable than the sound improvements. For now...
Just got the RZ4-2000. Comfortable wiring up everything, just haven't figured how to hook up to factory SGS radio. Is there an easy way or Video/ pictures? Is there a plug and play kit? No RCA sucks otherwise I would be fine. I have been trying to research all over but nothing complete has given me a warm fuzzy. Thanks
Just read this whole thread and I'm wondering why people are still not using aftermarket head units? Not trying to be a jerk but it would eliminate a lot of your issues. I can understand not wanting to change if you have the 6.5 but with the 4.3 I plan to change head units.

Essentially, (correct me if I'm wrong here but I don't know of one) but no one makes a module to use an aftermarket head unit and retain the handlebar controls on the rush bikes. Only until recently was there even a way to mount an aftermarket single din unit. Biketronics came out with that mount for use on the FLHTP mainly. They're also currently working on getting a control module out but it's not yet available.
As UN has pointed out there are a few major players in the aftermarket fairing biz that are working on complete replacement fairings that will allow an aftermarket double din radio. The OEM fairing prohibits that by design.
After reading all the threads on the infinity Kappa speakers I thought I would try them out on my 2014 Street Glide. After installing them on the outside of the speaker pod I found they did not fit even after doing the modification shown in this thread no matter what the rubber cone will still touch the wire boom cover and not be centered with the Inner fairing?without doing permanent modifications to the bike,I don't see that speakers will fit correctly. what other speakers are you using that will fit correctly?

Also from what I'm reading Metra makes a kit for the Rushmore bikes for a single din head unit. I was planning to add an amp then speakers first. But now i think I'm going to start with replacing the head unit then going to ad an amp later. To me after doing a lot of car audio work this seems to be the way to go. You get around all the factory DSP issues and flashes. Just can't seem to find an find a marine unit I like. But I have to wonder if a marine unit is necessary.

I bought the Polk mm651. I did the counter sink thing with different screws with smaller heads. The screws were a bit longer and broke through to the inside of the pods but the speakers fit flush with no issues. I am using cycle sounds grills. Not sure what other guys are doing but I hear of a lot of people running the kappas with boom grills. I had planned on switching to them myself if the polks didn't work out.
I had my BT stuff fitted by El Cajon HD and after about 8 hours they got it all fitted with help from Bill at BT. Did include fitting a XM module as well.
I went down to see how it was going and they said the rear speakers wouldn't fit. They said fitting the rear speakers was a problem because the speakers wouldn't seat in the V twin audio spacers.
I had a look and here was a gap of about 3/16" to 1/8" between the speaker and the spacer. We talked it through and they wanted to have a plastic spacer made up, I said all we need was some sort of rubber seal and the tech suggested to line the edge with some tour pack seal strip! Done!
I can turn it up to 10 bars with no distortion and 12 bars is getting painfully loud with no distortion, the bass up two bars and the treble up one bar. The fade works and there is bass from the rears with help from the tour box.
Only problem is that the battery goes flat pretty quickly if I don't have the engine running while playing music...loud!
