Hey folks.. I had an '11 RGU in which I spent quite a bit of dough on J&M Rokker speakers / amp, etc... great sound, but I sold the bike.. Well.. been through 3 other bikes since then, and now back to Ultra (should have listened to my wife when she said.. "don't sell the RGU.. you will regret it)
I purchased a '10 Ultra Classic.. the stereo / speakers are stock, so distorts at volumes lower than I wish.. My main requirements are:
* cost - now have 3 kids in college and alimony that is 5x my mortgage payment every month.. I can't afford a huge investment
* want to keep the HK head unit (see above point)
So, keeping the existing HK head unit, what suggestions do the audio guru's have to obtain crisper sound at higher volumes. I don't need the 500w I had on the RGU (though dang, that was nice).. also don't really care to add speakers to the lowers..
Oops.. almost forgot.. the previous owner did add the boom audio bass booster tourpak kit..
Soundstream 4.520 amp and 4 Polk MM651 speakers is probably your most budget friendly option for an Ultra. You will need adaptors for your fairing speakers. Arc or Dragonfly.
Thx for taking the time to add that much info.. greatly appreciated..
Have any thoughts of 1 option over the other (ie.. is Hogtunes worth the extra "if" it is the better system?)
I personally would stay away from polks.... 1st set blew one speaker but was able to return via Amazon, second set I bought off a BM from here. They were new in the box, I installed them and about a month later the tweeter fell out and was dangling from the speaker, now I have no recourse to return and out $100. There is a thread about the utter failure of these speakers, now I am not saying all of them, but they are out there!
