Default 2012 stereo in 2005

will a stereo from a 2012 street glide work on a 2005 ultra classic? I know I would have to change the speakers, but will the stereo plug up and work?

yes sir it will plug right in.

you will need to look at the diagnostic manual for the radio and switch the speed sensor setting from what it is currently set at to the only other option there. That moves it from a digital to analog signal.

The ultra connector on the 2012 radio is not a direct connect to the 2005 bike. The 05 uses a 23 pin connector. The 12 uses a 35 pin. The Ultra harness will need to be repinned to a 35 pin connector, or replaced.
The main harness will allow the unit to turn on, front speakers to work, and handlebar controls will function. Rear speakers, psaanager controls, intercom and CB will not function unless the Uktra harness is addressed
