Jensen AM/FM/WB/USB/iPod and iPhone/SiriusXM Ready/Bluetooth Stereo - HD1BT .
This is listed as a direct replacement for the HK stereo and is a "true plug and play design means the factory harness plugs directly into the back of the JENSEN radio and works with the factory handle bar controls".
Well after checking the listed models (Fitment) that are compatible, mine was listed (2005 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic Injected - FLHTCUI ).
So after getting the new HD1BT I found out its NOT, that is if you want handlebar controls to work.
My HK has (2) two connectors on the back. One for power and front speakers, and the other for controls and rear speakers. The HD1BT has only the one connector for power and front speaker.
As this wasn't a Direct Replacement with the controls I didn't do anything else with it so I can't tell you anything about its performance.
This is a FYI for all of you that are thinking about getting this stereo. If you have the (2) connectors on the back of your HK stereo and want handlebar controls thin this isn't going to work.
Yea, after looking into this radio, it looks like a direct replacement of stock radio. The only difference being Bluetooth and xm capable, not sure I want to spend $500, at least that is what I saw it going for.
If it's plug & play, I think that $500 is a fair price.... Imagine the R&D money that they have tied up in this...gotta recoup that on the front end....at least someone is trying to cross over into the motorcycle market !!
Please;
Put this information on HOLD. My problem is being investigated. As I purchased this from a supplier, I didn’t call their (the supplier) customer support. I did get a call from the right people but I had already shipped it back. Once the credit card charges are cleared up, I’ll order another unit and work with them to get the unit working. I have already gone over everything I did during the installation and what troubleshooting I did with the right people. (Haven’t asked them if they are OK with me mentioning who they are yet)
I’ll Keep this updated.
What's the latest on this? I have a 2002 and was think about getting the same radio. Do they make an adapter harness?
the reason they are not compatible from a "handlebar control" standpoint is all 2006 and newer touring bikes utilize digital signals for AVC whereas prior models use analog. The stock HD radio can be programmed for either, the Jensen cannot.
