HD Plus Ipod Player
When we asked where power and ground were connected to, this was what we were concerned with. If you had connected everything as per instructions, your power to the module would be constant, not switched. The module cannot be connected to switched power. Once communication is established with the radio, constant power is needed to prevent loss of that communication. Constant applying / removing power from the module can result in a defective module (as probably happened here). We would like to help you directly, but you need to call / email us.
Rather than waste everyones time, I thought I would take another look at the connections. The ground was good, then I looked at the hot wire and saw that the connection was made with one of those quick connect taps. I stripped that off and saw that the tap was starting to cut a few strands of wire. I then stripped a section of the hot wire, spliced in a new wire then soldered the spliced in wire. I think that has taken care of that problem.
As to my original problem with the unit freezing up, it was still there. So I played around with the connection to my Iphone 5S and so I feel the problem is in the lightning connection. The connector being small just gives a little of slop if it's not in there in just the right way. I think I might just look for an Ipod with the old style 30 pin connector, that might be a better way to go.
So the big lesson here is if you're going to install the Ipod player, throw away those quick connect thingamajigs and solder the connections in or find someone who can do it for you.
