Running a Sony marine media radio and a Hawg Wired adapter. Worked perfectly for a couple years, but now I am having an issue with the hand controls.
hand controls sometimes don't work, sometimes work intermittently, and sometimes they have a mind of their own, like if I bump the volume up a notch it runs all the way to max by itself.
I am just trying to figure out how I can tell if I have a radio issue (this radio is about a year old), or a hand control switch issue, or something else. I thought about looking for a used left side hand control and swapping it out, but I'm trying to avoid spending $$ on parts I don't need if there is some way for me to check it otherwise.
I would think the interface is what is going bad. It runs off a variant signal and if it misinterprets then it can do crazy things.
thanks, I wondered about that also but forgot to include it. my main issue is I have no idea where to start, I guess I'll start with the cheapest part and work up to the most expensive... I did talk to a stereo installer at daytona biketoberfest and he said he uses nothing but Hawgwired and has never seen a failure, but with my luck I'd be the 1st in history...
go the biketronics controller itself and disconnect it completely. let it sit for a minute and plug it back in. If it's easier to access the fuse panel, just pull the main fuse out for minute and then plug it back in.
