Hawg Wired?
when talking to a bud of mine about sound upgrades for my 2013 FLHX, he pointed me to Hawg Wired (as in, its his preferred upgrde when he gets around to it), so I thought I'd look round the forums and search but not finding much on them. Seen a few Biketronics recommendations but most seem to lean toward the Polk speakers w Amp and maybe a name brand head unit. Plus J&M seems to be all over the place, too.
I do notice that Biketronics, HW and J&M are priced into the outer atmosphere when compared to the Polks etc.
So, is it a bang for your buck type of thing? Get the same bang out of Polk/Rf amp, for less buck? I'm leaning towrd the RF pbr300x4 and Polk mm651 fairing speakers (pbrx4 so hat if lid speakers are in my future, I'm ready in that regard).
Thx in advance.
If you are looking for "bang for the buck", then the Soundstream 4.520 amp might be for you. The downside to that amp is you will lose all FM and AM reception. If you want to keep FM reception, there are options, but they cost more.
The pbr300x2 is a good amp. You could get one of those for your MM651's and then add another one (you can fit two in your fairing) when you add bag speakers.
1. One amp is mounted on top of the radio, long way from speaker to speaker, and the other is mounted on the Hogtunes 2nd amp bracket. It replaces a fairing brace with a mountable bracket. So one on top of the radio, one on the side. This is the most common.

2. Both are mounted on top of the radio, side by side, long way from front to back of the bike. They are long enough that when you do it this way, you have to trim some of the fairing gauge braces off of the inner fairing. Most people don't want to do that, that is why they prefer to use the bracket.

Your ticket to best affordable sound setup on a street glide with 2 speakers is a Rockford Fosgate PBR300x2 and a pair of Biketronics 7.1" speakers. This coupled with an amp install kit (necessary wiring) you'll be in it for less than $400 and it ROCKS
IMO if you're going to go with lids later on, you're MUCH better off with 2 of the PBR300x2 amps instead of the PBR300x4. The 4 severely lacks power. 2 PBR amps will fit inside the SG fairing without issue using the Hawg Wired 2nd amp mounting plate.
