I do not have any handlebar speakers installed yet. Right now I just adjust volume from ipod and was planning on adding a clip holder to my bars and control the ipod via a Bluetooth remote attached to the clip. If I add the bar speakers and amp, boom or the like, I'd love to ditch the blue tooth and just use the thumb volume control the bar speakers come with to contol everthing.
Disclaimer: I know the OP has lowers with speakers already... but, I like this outside-of-the-box thinking! I'm wondering what other sizes this could be done with to accommodate the OP?
There is a great thread on using 6.5" Focal's in light cans over in the Softail section (click here). I'm liking how he's got it all set up!
And, FWIW here is a picture showing their sweet RF PBR300x2 amp install. This kind of stuff really does it for me!!

Its a setup from ipodcarpros. Its a direct ipod to amp setup. It has an external volume control that I have mounted next to my shotgun air ride controls. It has a headphone jack for music from phones and the 16 pin ipod jack. In regards to the 6.5 speakers fitted into the headlight buckets, the only modification was cutting about 1/4 inch from the outer speaker ring. It fit perfect into the 5 3/4 headlight bucket. I also put some dynomat around the bottom of the bucket to control rattles. But overall great setup if u want to roll with no bags and no fairing.
The setup is iampcbl from ipodcarpros.com but the website doesn't seem to be working for some reason. And it is the rca red/white cables from the 3.5 mm jack and ipod jack.
(As for the housing...)
Here you go http://www.jpcycles.com/product/3100502 Its just the headlight shell and trim ring so you don't have to pay for the headlamp itself. Save some cash for an item that isn't going to be used.
I actually like the head light buckets better than the lowers, these allow you to aim the music and give you more options... My bike builder sells them with speakers installed already, not sure on cost, but you could always contact him. DD custom cycle in lake villa il. His name is Dave and is a super great guy, just another option...

Those look great on the Deluxe! My first bike was a Deluxe. I miss her.
