6x9 3ways or 2ways
i have 04 road king and i'm installing hogtune lids with a pbr 300x2 amp in the bag using a ipod for the source input. i mainly listen to hip hop,r@b and rap with some jazz mixed in . what a good speaker to install. i like my bass but i like to here my vocals to., i have been leaning toward a per of kappa 693.11 but i here everybody praising the pioneers 6902r ( need your input thks.)
I ended up with Focal 6x9 speakers. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_091ISC6...n-ISC-690.html
Arc Audio Amp http://www.arcaudio.com/p/ks-125-2-b..._ks-mini?pp=24
A control **** like this to control my input going to the amp. Works as a volume control. http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-RC...p2054897.l4276
And then finally this.. http://www.jcwhitney.com/isimple0174...FTRo7AodETYAgA
The iSimple media wire will charge your iphone or ipod. It works to bring your music thru the RCA outputs into the volume control ****. Which has RCA cables going to your amp. Then out to your speakers.
You need the **** because your volume control on your iphone or ipod doesn't work unless you are connected to the 3.5 mm output on the top. But if you connect thru that, you can't charge your phone at the same time. If you connect to the big connector on the bottom, it charges and allows you to play music at the same time.
The only thing i'm going to change, is this winter, i'm working on finding a good marine amplifier. I want to take the ARC audio amp out of the saddle bag. It does get hot in there during real hot days and long rides. So after time if your running your volume high enough, it will overheat the amp, and it will kick out. So i'm looking for a good marine amp that I can mount outside of the saddle bag. between the saddle bag and wheel. To get airflow around it and help keep it cool. It does help that I have a Dirty Bird concepts top shelf *** end. So it's very closed off and you can't see anything back there anymore. I had the 4" extended bags before, and now that i'm putting the 8" bags on, and different rear fender, there's more covered back there. So I think I can do it without it being noticed. And a Marine amp can handle it if it does get wet.
The problem is the 6x9 speakers. They don't have very many choices for 6x9's anymore. But after I spent the money on the Focal's and then tried the alpines and did try some pioneer's, I went back to the Focal speakers. I felt the sound quality was way better. Didn't matter if it was Rap, or heavy metal music, they sounded way better than anything else that I tried at all volume levels. This was able to be heard by friends of mine when we would be out riding in a group. Mine was always heard by other riders compared to guys with street glides. Unless they did major stereo upgrades mine was way louder and sounded much better.
