Question I want more!!!

OK, I've upgraded my 2001 SE ROAD GLIDE with a RF PBR300x2, JVC head unit, and Polk MM651's on brackets. With all of the posts with problems on the Polks (and some on the RF amp), I've babied them more than I would a car stereo set-up. Well, I want more. More bass, more volume, more loudness, more crispness. Are the 7.1 speakers that much better? I've seen where a few people have cut holes for additional speakers on the inside of the fairing inner (facing the forks), but am not sure if it would be worth the trouble (and damage to the inner) just to add speakers that don't face the rider. I do have the old style (more rectangular) Road Glide lowers, but to NOT have the glove box things to house speakers in. I do not want to buy new lowers or bag lids as they would have to be custom painted to match my limited paint scheme. So, any input on how to achieve louder (cleaner, non-distorted) sound??? Thanks!

The MM651s are 2.7 ohms vs. BT 7.1s are 4 ohm speakers which are going to need more power. I would think the PBR 300x2 should be able to provide more than enough power to give you all the loudness you want.

Well, maybe my gains are too low. But, the amp is set to UltraNutz specs and I don't want to damage anything - just go louder!

Are you using line level or speaker level inputs? I'm running line level inputs to my 300x2 and it kicks A$$ with my 651s. My gain is set to 7, but my Sony HU puts out 5 volts on the RCA jacks.

I set my RF PBR300X2 gain to approx. 7, and adjusted my HK head unit fader to favor the Polk MM651s in the fairing in order to balance the sound as the fairing speakers did not sound as loud as the speakers in my rear pods (the new 5.25 J&M speakers).

Since you don't want to add any speakers,........you quest for bass isn't gonna happen. Your only choice is to upgrade the fairing speakers.

What is the model of your head unit ?

What is your budget ??

I'm where I'm at today based on UN's expert tutalige! Being short on funds and conversations with Ultra, I set my gains on the conservative side. Based on how you all claim awesomeness out of the PBR300x2, I think I'll start by bumping up the gain a bit. Being one that loves high end audio, I want my bike to be as loud as a new CVO system. So, when I read that you guys have better than CVO set-ups, it makes me want to improve mine. Thanks for all your input!
