I had the earlier version of the SS amp. Mine didn't have that silver thing on top. Is it removable?

Not installed, but this is what mine looked like when mounted.

You do have the silver thing...it's a plastic badge and I spun it around so that I could push the amp in as far as possible

Every little cm counts here, mine was a very, very tight fit ('09 Ultra Classic). That velcro looks as if it builds the amps height up about a 1/4 inch or more. I would try to eliminate that velcro and see where that gets you. As you stated, my issues came from the very top, 2 outside corners of the amp touching the fairing as well.

Hopefully my gear gets back soon and I can put it all back together for some visuals.

Well....several had suggested using Dual Lock to secure the Amp to the top of the bracket....how are you going to hold it together? Also, I'm wondering if I properly installed Scott's bracket??...doesn't seem like there's much adjustability with his set up - it seems like it everything just lines up and bolts together. Did you use the same four screws that secure the head unit to the fairing brackets? Thanks

I had mine installed so it has to fit. If you're going to spin the badge around, I would just remove it. Seems the way is sitting is going to cause more problems then it fixes.

It looks to me from your pictures that the bracket and amp are installed correctly. I used Velcro too. I don't see how the amp could be hitting the fairing. I like the idea somebody else had in this thread. Take your headlight out so you can see exactly what is causing the problem.

I did remove the headlight and that's how I was able to determine where my clearance issues are...definitely a good idea! And now I just need to figure out what, if anything I'm doing wrong and correct.....it's really gonna hurt my feelings if I have to relocate the amp to the trunk...the whole reason I went with this setup.

I had following previously and IT was tight: HK Head unit; xm module; HDPDPlus; crossovers for RF T1652s; and Arc 125 on Ezzell bracket. I think you may have to eliminate (at least the top portion) the bracket making it similar to the J&M bracket and mount amp directly on the head unit. (See pic). If it's as far back as it can possibly go then you gotta get it down somehow.

There is no adjustability on Scott's bracket, slide the bracket prongs into the slots on the HU and bolt it up (2 screws to the back of HU, you can see the wear marks from my mock up on the bracket below). I've got a machinist/metalworking buddy who is going to make me a couple of sheet brackets (using the white amp cardboard as a sample in the 2nd picture below) that will sandwich the amp to Scott's bracket.

I hope to have my **** back by the weekend, if so I'll post up the install.

Amp sitting all the way down on Scott's bracket.

Cardboard example (will be fabbed in sheet metal) to sandwich the amp to Scott's bracket with zero clearance.

HotDamn....needless to say, I'm very interested to hear and see how your install comes together. I guess my next step is to remove the super expensive "Velcro" I'm using to secure the amp and see if that gives me enough clearance.
