One of my speakers is cutting out, so I am sure that something is loose. I ordered this bracket and will start over when it arrives.

Well . . . That sucks! I wonder why Soundstream changed the configuration on that amp anyway..They were just fine like they were. Both of mine are the old style with no fitment issues. Also the new amps have 1 40 amp fuse vs. the older amps have 2 30 amp fuses. . . .Makes you wonder?

Nutz have you installed the newer 520.D's in the fairing?

Plenty.. they fit perfectly fine. The only difference between the 2 is the newer model doesn't have the speaker output wiring harness but instead has a terminal block on the side. The physical measurements of the amp are identical.

I think what the OP is saying is that he previously had this nice flat platform to set/velcro his amp onto with the stock head unit. Being that ANY aftermarket head unit is not going to be anywhere near the thickness of the stocker is where I interpret the issue to be. And it's really not an issue and never has been. There are many ways to mount this amp

1. cut a 1/2" piece of plywood. Velcro it to the top of the head unit. Then Velcro the amp to the top of it. done.
2. use the metal stock that I've told people about for a long time from home depot and now someone sells on eBay to sandwich the mount to the vertical fairing brackets.

It's really not that difficult.

this is how the amp sets atop the stocker (nice and flat surface for mounting using Velcro)

this is how the amp sets with an aftermarket head unit (there is a gap under the amp now)

here is the dimensions for the piece of metal stock I was referring to from Home depot

Sorry UN, must have missed your previous posts on the metal stock, but all is good the rack I bought should do the job. Yep the first pic is exactly what mine looked like with the HK radio....except I didn't have the second SS amp. I did think about the block or wood approach last night, but I was already hurrying to get finished so I could ride to work today. Only to find out that something is loose in there and cutting out a speaker. Probably the 5 times I had to take the fairing back off and rearrange wiring to get the fairing remounted. So with the new bracket.....just gonna put it on the lift and take my time to get everything tidy'd up. One other question, I thought that Kenwood had a port for the input controls, but they have a wire in the harness. Is there anything that you know of that converts the input control plug on the Biketronics device over to copper wire?

I will say this about those terminals. I've never liked terminals like that especially for speaker wire connectivity to the amp so what I got in the habit of doing was each speaker wire prior to being inserted in the hole and screwing it down, I would "tin" the wire lead with solder so it becomes a solid surface to screw down to. I then take blue Loctite and put on each screw and snug the screw down on the wire end. No need to over-tighten the screw as you'll simply mess up the tinned wire end. the first couple of these I put in, I had issues with the leads coming out because the holes are too big for 16/14 ga speaker wires and are designed for 8 - 10ga speaker wire. I'm not going to run 10ga speaker wire to anything unless I'm building a world-class audio setup so I simply soldered the end of the wire prior to inserting and snugging the screw down.

Excellent as always! I'll save this thread for future reference. Quick question Nutz . . I see you actually have two soundstreams in the Illustration above. . .What model is the second sound stream and what bracket are you using to secure it? Looks nice and clean.
