Default Two 6x9's or Four?

In the lids...... I have the SS 4.520 amp with the iphone/ipod control, no other speakers. Questions is, would it be a waste to add the 2nd set or beneficial? I am converting my non speaker lids to speakers, so that's not an issue. Would this be a "the more, the better" scenario? I have one set of the Pioneers D6902 but could pick up another if its going to be worth it. I want loud and clean sound. Any thoughts?

you're on the right track if you want loud...

are you planning 2 in each lid or 2 in the lids and 2 facing inwards?

I was planning two in each lid, but if two lids and two facing inwards is better, I am not opposed to that option. Which would give more/better sound?

all depends on your end goal and what costs you're willing to associate to that end goal. and by cost I don't mean just $.

4 speakers in each saddlebag is very doable but the cost there is pretty much all storage space will be gone.

If you do this, big power is going to be your friend. Something like the amps I run would be ideal for this type of setup.
225x4 @ 2 ohms.

wire 2 right inward facing as right rear in parallel
wire 2 right lid speakers as right front in parallel
wire 2 left inward facing as left rear in parallel
wire 2 left lid speakers as left front in parallel

that will bring all 4 channels to 2 ohms and I can only imagine what that will sound like.

couple of things to note if you go that route:
1. make sure to line those saddlebags with material
2. make sure to isolate 2 speakers in each from the other 2 speakers using baffles.

Thanks for your input, much appreciated!!

My thought was speakers in the lids (weather its one or two in each) would not sacrifice much room other than the amp mounted inside one of the bags. Even though I'm not too concerned about space, I would like to keep them somewhat functional if possible. If I have to sacrifice space for more/better sound, I'm all for it though.

Now, I'd like to use just the one amp I have. Would this push all 4 speakers enough?

If I mount all four in the lids, do I still need to baffle them? Or do I need this regardless of configuration?

sure it would. 4x100 is a lot of power so you're good there.

as for the speakers, yes I would isolate 1 speaker from the other since they'll be on different channels in each bag. Just put 1 baffle on one of the speakers

Just another thought you might want to line the bags like stated before and make a port with a grill to cover the whole for a nice bass response.

I had a wire come off of one of my 6X9's in the bag, and immediately knew that something was amiss....you can definitely tell the difference between 2 & 4 6X9's !!

But,........as said..................you gotta have POWER !!!

No, four total, two in each bag.

Heck, four in each is not a bad idea either!
