Static in speakers with crossover location making difference
So, here is the problem. I run the crossover off the amp wires prior to going into the speakers, the speakers have static. I run the crossovers off the stereo input prior to going into the amp, I have no static. I remove the crossovers from the system completely, I get static. The static only began to appear when I removed the 7.25 rokkers and put the pioneer ts-d1702r in (i plan on installing kappa 92.11i tomorrow but wanted to see how it would sound with the pioneers). I did not have the problem before because the mid range on the rokker is built into the grill and comes from the crossover. I am having static out of the tweeter on the pioneer. The amp is a rokker 500w 4 channel with speaker input and no option for rca. The stereo is a clarion flip out unit. All was fine until I removed the rokkers. What should I do?
connecting the Pioneer speakers directly to the head unit, you have no static?
connecting the pioneers to the amp you have static?
Am I understanding that correctly?
I promise you if the pioneer speaker are producing static coming out of the amp but not out of the head unit, then so will the rokker speakers. If they don't then that static is being masked some how.
connect the pioneer speakers without their crossover to the output of the amp. DO NOT CRANK ON THE VOLUME HERE. this is just to test. what are the results?

Results are that I disconnected the speakers last nite one by one to see if I could narrow it down to gauge tweeters or the pioneers themselves and guess what? The first speaker I disconnected the static went away. Brand new in the box speaker from best buy was blown. The other pioneer and the gauge tweeters sounded off loud and clear and with authority....much much louder than the rokkers. AND I was able to turn the volume up full blast on these pioneers and heard ZERO distortion...which was not the case with the rokkers. So, needless to say....the Pioneers are going back to best buy and the infinity 62.11i will be getting purcahsed from fry's today when i get off work.
I hope so. Maybe they wont be fried when i take them out of the box. I was just playing around with the pioneers anyways to see how they sound. I will admit this...that one 6.5 was sounding off on my bike. that is a really good speaker for the price.
