Well, I have been hearing a lot of rattling from one of my saddlebags. I initially thought it was the latch. So, this morning, on my way to work I pulled off to the side and went to check it because it was annoying the hell out of me. I pushed against the latch firmly and the rattle continued. Opened up the bag, unplugged the rear speaker, closed the lid and the rattle stopped. Speaker is blown.
So, I chalk it up to trying to power these TS-Ds with an underpowered JL amp. My procrastination with installing the TN4.900D has resulted in me blowing a speaker. Im thinking that due to the lack of power being sent to the TS-Ds (I have them ran in parallel so they are only getting like 50 watts each when the minimum RMS should be 80 watts), I overcompensated with my Bluetooth source and my head unit which resulted in distorted power going into the speakers. Correct me if im wrong, but thats what I believe happened.
So, I just ordered another pair from sonic electronix for $84 and they will arrive on friday. I cant wait to get this JL amp off of my bike. I think im gonna ride the 45 minutes home from work today with no music at all. Lord knows I dont want to blow another one. I did end up reducing my bluetooth volume down to about 70% (volume on 11 of 15) and turning the radio volume back down to 30 (from 33 out of 40). Your thoughts??

Eshaw.Eshaw, Eshaw!! How in the hell did you think 50 watts to the pioneers was going to get it done my friend? Those puppies need power! Stop F***ing around and hook the dam TN4.900 up to your four pioneers and call it a day. Good luck my friend!

xd400/4. You wanna buy it? I have it for sale in the classifieds. Its a great amp if your speakers dont require a lot of power. But mine do so its got to go.
Have you removed the 'blown' speaker yet for inspection ?? I've had a Pioneer do break the 'tweeter stalk' off, probably from vibration, and the fact that they are mounted sideways , in the bag....Just snapped the stalk of, careful not to short the wires, and bolted it up until the new ones arrived ! Sounded GREAT !!
