Instead of tying into the factory harness to wire up front and rear speakers, would it be better to leave the harness alone and run speaker wire from amp direct to speakers? 13 ultra limited amp pbr300x4 stock head unit

IMO use the wiring harness under the tank. The wires will be protected from rubbing due to vibration - simple to do just remove the tank (run tank close to empty first)

I would leave your factory harness in stock form if it were me. Adding wire is better than cutting up what you already have.

If I choose to leave the stock harness alone and run new speaker wire, will the amp need a remote wire hooked up or no?

It will if you don't use high level inputs.

The Hogtunes amp gets the high level inputs from the rear speakers by running four wires to each pod. Two to carry the signal back to the amp, two to power the speaker. That is how they get a "plug and play" system. You could do something like that.

I spliced into my stock wiring harness to get the high level inputs when I had my Soundstream. Then I used the stock wiring for the tweeters on my Polk MM's and ran separate wiring for the woofers to keep the crossovers in the fairing. You can use spade terminals and if you ever decide to put it back to stock you just plug them together. When I sold the harness, the person that bought it didn't care that it was spliced. Just wanted to know that the connections were secure, which they were.

Most of the time I don't recommend using the stock harness with amps, but the 300x4 is low enough in power that it shouldn't matter. Also, make sure to use 4 ohm speakers with that amp.
