Ran into issue with the ASWC0-1 and Kenwood HU combo.
All worked fine while bike not running, while running not so: Volume up and down not working.
The only thing I can think of is the grounding not working good enough for the kenwood. meaning grounding the pink/white handlebar to the power outlet/ ciggie lighter. Perhaps it does need to go to the triple tree.
Once the fairing goes open I will report back here is that will fix it and will adjust the instructions.
UPDATE: ground to triple tree, not ciggie lighter.
I ran into issues with Kenwood I could not explain.
EVEN running to triple tree tab and putting it on there did not make it all work...
AS SOON AS I DID PUT the headlight on the harness my volume did not work anymore...
the only way it did (DOES) work is to take the black wire with the white connecotr of the triple tree "tab" and let it hang lose and only connect the "pink/white" ground wire to the tab.
if anyone knows what the black wire with white connector serves for, please let me (us) know.
bike runs fine without it connected and I do not see any functions not working.
With the newer Metra wire harness that comes with the aswc-1 connector you only have to connect one wire to the bike which is a pink/white long wire. So when you buy a ASWC-1 to use for your hand controls, you do not use the connector that comes with it. You use the 12-pin connector that comes with the Harley Davidson Metra 99-9600 instead of the one that comes with the ASWC-1. On the harness you will notice a long pink/white wire which will connect to the pink/white wire on the bike that will be cut. The hand control side of the cut pink wire will connect to the long pink/white wire from the ASWC-1 harness. Then the other side of the cut pink/white wire at the bike connector side gets tapped off. Then start the auto detect programming which was stated in the thread.
The 12-pin connector to the ASWC-1 connected to the HD Metra harness. The Sony MEX GS610BT wire harness.
So I am using the metra connector and it worked well for a little while. Then shortly after up was down and down was up on both the volume and the track selection... anyone else have this issue?
bike running only or does not matter?
check ground of your "pink/white" wire. ground to tripple tree or to battery (amp ground line).
the ciggie ground seems to cause some issues (HU dependent, my pioneer was fine, new kenwood not so much).
I would like to thank UltraNutZ advice within Sticky Self-Diagnostics for HK radios (post 210). He was, sadly enough, correct with his hint and my radio was broken. I had to replace it.
Since I'm from Germany, I had the option to replace it with a aftermaket or a new HK. Prices for the HK are not worth to go this route so I bought a new Kennwood incl. ASWC-1 and Metra kit for the 2009 Street Glide. With the manual provide by AAWAV from post 1 it was easy to do. Took many pictures while replacing the radio and will do a kind of guide if interested.
NEW: Kenwood KMR-M308BTE incl. stock speakers (will be replaced ,sound is not the best)
Has anyone done this mod on a 2005 Ultra WITH rear speakers? My new Kenwood HU obviously has wires for rear speakers (2 each rear side) but the Metra adapter does not; it only has wires for the front speakers.
I guess I can splice into the rear speaker wires outside of the connecter but I'm not sure which of the millions of wires go to the rear speakers or where would be the best place to splice them, like are they in the orginal harness that the Metra connecter goes to or are they in the other harness from the oem radio that is now not being used (the 2nd of the 2)?

Any ideas????
You should get a service manual if you don't have one. The wiring diagrams are in there. It would be of great use if you're going to be doing this stuff yourself.
