I just had a Jensen HD1BT head unit along with a Hawg wired 400w amp, two 6.5" 4ohm speakers also Hawg wired brand and tweeter kit with crossovers installed by a local motorcycle shop. This was installed on my 2010 FXD with a cycle visions road glide kit. The problem I'm having is the sound will randomly drop in half although the volume number on the display stays the same if I then adjust the volume it reacts accordingly but it's still only at half power if I pause or volume all the way down and then play or volume back up its back at full power or sound but then it shortly thereafter drops in half again. This is happening playing all audio sources and if I stop riding and turn off the bike but keep the stereo going it will continue to happen. I really got jacked around by the shop so if I can fix this without involving them I would like to. I don't know if this is defective equipment or install? I checked resistance on the ground from the amp to the battery and it's zero I also thought the amp may be overheating so I ran it with no headlights to see if more airflow would cure the problem but it hasn't. This happened minutes after picking up the bike. The shop doesn't open up for two more days so I can't talk with them yet. Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Don't know a whole lot about the Jensen as it is very new and only a few guys on the forum have it. No worries though It's a whole lot of knowlege on this forum and I guarantee there's someone here who can help you. Matter of fact if you search the threads there is a whole thread dedicated to the Jensen. I'd start with JM John if I were you. I think he has probably installed the most. Good luck Sir!
Thanks for the info I have searched on these forums and read whats been posted about Jensen Unfourtanetly I haven't found anything relating to the problem I'm having

Give ASA tech support a call, they might have an answer for you. Their number is 800-688-3135. It is quite possible it is something they have already encountered or that it is a problem with the radio itself. They seem to be pretty good about warranty work from what has been reported.
so no external handlebar control module is present..
running the bike or not running the bike produces the same results..
I highly doubt by the way you're describing this issue that an amp or speaker would be your cause.
my .02 goes to yet another defective Jensen head unit. you're not the first.. first I see with this problem but certainly not the first I see with issues with it.
Thank you for that 800 number I was having a hard time finding one for them... I do have volume control on the handlebars... I can only get it to happen when I'm actually riding not stopped. Once it happens if I pull over and turn off motir but leave the key on it will continue to do it if turn the key off then I have to start moving again to trigger it
So there's lots with issues with this head unit? Did I but a POS? All the research I did prior led me to believe it was the way to go
Only time will tell. . . You just never know about these new products. These vendors put products on the market trying to stay ahead of the competition without doing their due diligence from a quality standpoint and we the consumer end up being quality control.
I'm not a fan of Jensen products but also won't totally discredit them just because of the name. This is a new product and some issues are to be expected and I'm certain they will refine the product.
What I didn't expect to see is crappy solder joints on RCA connectors right out the gate though.
