That Kenwood of yours has 4V pre-outs. The PBR300X2 should have your speakers jumping out of the fairing set on 6. . . .If they were two ohm speakers. You have the BTP7.1's and they are power hungry at 4ohms and 120 watts RMS. You are only throwing 100 watts to those power hungry speakers. therefore turning your gains way up to compensate for lack of power. I remember when I had the titan 2 set up on my bike with the X2 . . I never could get the speakers to reach their full potential with the X2. To get the sound you are looking for eventually you will have to graduate to the BT2180 or an amp with more power @ 4 ohms. Just my experience.

Surprise, Surprise, exactly what you guys told me up before I got this amp. I'm hoping it will hold me over for a while anyway after I crank up the gain on this thing. Of course sooner or later........ lol Thanks

LOL. . It will sound really nice a low volume. Just don't try to turn it up too loud. Distortion City.

I am using the 300x2 from a stock HU, speaker level inputs and the BT7.1s almost exclusively running my ipod from my HDPD direct input. You MUST have something amiss as I can't turn mine up past 3/4 volume with gains set around 5-6 without pissing off the whole area around me. At 70 the bass is gone but otherwise sounds great. Although I have heard that the PBRs don't like the higher V inputs as well.

You know it's really interesting. I've heard stories like yours and horror stories like James71 with the exact same set up. Technically James should be blowing your setup away with the aftermarket HU. The PBR does work better with speaker level inputs with the stock radio. But it also works well with an aftermarket HU and low level inputs. I've installed both ways and ultimately I was able to dial in better sound with the aftermarket HU. The stock radio would distort at 3/4 volume.

So I bumped it up to about 7 1/2 and it now cranks. I'm not sure why there is such a discrepancy but it seems my gain setting needed to be higher to get similar results. Once the weather cools down here I'll play with it some more but again last night I had 2 kids running around needing "daddy" every 2 minutes or so and I was sweating my *** off. So I got the fairing off, amp adjusted, and back together in about 1/2 hour. It is night and day difference between the 6 setting and 7 1/2.

Cool with 4 ohm speakers that should more than enough I ended up around 7. I noticed on this RF amp about 1volt difference between channels using my Fluke DVM. I do like separate channel gain settings like the Arc etc.
