I installed a whole biketronics setup this year, everything sounds great, but am having a few issues. I've called them and we are trying to troubleshoot the problem, but figure I'd ask the audio nerds like myself on here as well.
I have the BT4180 amp with the 7.1 Speakers in the faring, and the 6x9 in the lids. I started with the factory radio for about 2 months and quickly realized how much they suck. No problems with the factory radio. So I ordered up the Retro Radio and a Sony MEX-GS610BT. Since the install, I have had cracking and popping when switching modes ie: aux to cd to Bluetooth ect., and a super loud pop from all speakers when starting the bike if the radio is playing music. If I start the bike right up immediately after switching on the ignition, no problem. I've tried additionally grounding the radio, and Bill from Biketronics sent me a new headunit and amp. I replaced everything and am still having the problem. I did not however replace the gound/power wire with the new units. Any ideas what's going on, or how to possibly fix it?
run your ground back to your battery. I don't know what bike you have but if it's pre 06, there for sure is an issue with the front of the bike not being a good ground point.
Ground to the battery, No dice. The cracking and popping happens when the bike cuts power to the radio/amp to start. Also when shutting down the bike. Bill from BT said he has heard of older bikes having problems similar to this, but not newer ones.

Curious of what you find for a solution. I just replaced my J&M 250 and boom speakers for a BT 4180 and BT 7.1 speakers and I'm getting the loud boom at start up only as well. But it is loud and I'm worried it will damage the new speakers. I used all the same wiring hook ups as my J&M amp had but that amp never did it? I'm not having issues changing inputs or when it shuts off though.
Also with my J&M I wasn't using any RCA cables and I am with the BT amp, not sure if its related or not?
My turn on lead is the same BT lead that come's with the radio kit and I'm wired directly to the battery for both + and - leads.
