How about sharing some of the data that you used to reach your conclusion.I still find it hard to believe that scheduled maintenance at their respective dealers and fuel cost for a same model year Road King is greater than a similar year Cummins 2500 for the same number of miles, assuming no other repairs are necessary.Just for giggles,I would like to see comparisons at 15,30 and 60 thousand kilometers or miles, your choice.
Well I believe it... if you tires last you 70000 miles, a oil change is $100 and you can go 10000 miles or even more, no ordinary fluids or practically no transmission fluid...
The OPs cost is probably about right but that is the cost with pretty much every brand be it car truck or bike. I also own 2 BMWs and a Honda. Everyone there complains about the cost of maintenance at the dealership.
I bought a Harley and I expect to be about the same. In fact I just booked a full service and was quoted $500. It would not be any different if i went to the BMW of Honda shop. I am not a mechanic and prefer to have work done by someone who knows what to look/listen for. Once this service is done I will probably do my own oil/fluid changes and change my own tires but for the rest i will pay the higher cost and let the techs who know the bike and know how to take them apart and put them back together earn their living while I am free to do mine.
