HD Canadian surcharge on the 2022's

HD Canadian surcharge on the 2022's
Stopped into the dealer that I bought my new 2014 Ultra from today while we were in the area. Was just looking at a 2022 Ultra Limited that color scheme wise, caught my eye. $39,000 plus taxes CDN , Okay, I get that prices have gone up since we bought our bike. Upon looking at the tag closer, there was an $1100 HD surcharge on the bike. All dealers are charging it and that the charge was put on by the MOCO or words to that effect is what the salesman told me. Thankfully I am not in the market for another bike right now.

Ive got no problem if they build it into the msrp. To show it as an upcharge just makes me feel like Im getting gouged. Kinda like the debt retirement charge on the hydro bills a few years ago, pissed me off every month when I opened my bill.

Never did understand that debt retirement charge, our hydro bill was always paid on time
Now we may not have to pay for licence plate sticker renewal, this ought to be good!!

My property tax bill has an 'internet payment service fee'. Yeah, like the really want me to bring a check down to their front door. 25% of like is a scam.

When the 2022 bikes appeared on the Harley Canada web site, I was thinking, Wow.. All the prices stayed the same. But looking further, I found that my 2022 Road King had an $800 surcharge. (It is shown on the Harley Canada site, but it's buried way down in the fine print). Kudos to my dealer.... They had the full price including the surcharge on the handlebar tag in the showroom. There were no surprises.
It's not unusual for prices to go up year by year, especially with in the current inflationary environment. I guess hiding the increase as a surcharge gets people in the showroom so the salesmen can work on them.
Out of interest, the Harley USA site also shows a $800 surcharge on 2022 Road Kings. $800 Canuck bucks is $627 US.. So I saved $173 US dollars on the surcharge by buying in Canada. Another interesting thing is that the RDRS option in Canada is $995 CDN or $780 US.. Harley USA shows the RDRS option as $1025 US.. I saved $245 USD on the RDRS option.. Strange..
