Default Canada C2C

My intent is to ride across the continuous landmass of Canada this summer. Beginning in Vancouver and riding along the majority of the TCH to Halifax, via Thunder Bay, the shoreline of the Great Lake Superior and Edmunston.

I plan on riding over to Vancouver Island, to view the open Pacific from my favorite vantage in Tofino. I will then stay with family, and head over to Vancouver, with the intent of a very early departure to avoid traffic. I believe I am up for the task, I know my motorcycle is. I just need to complete vtuning [TTS] and I'm contemplating more auxiliary lighting.

Is it stupid..? Perhaps. It falls under a bucket list item, that most would say is ridiculous. I am 48 currently, 49 in September, with each passing day I feel more certain - "if not now, when?"

It will be long and difficult. It has been done before: but not by me.

Sounds like fun.. Make a point of stopping at mile zero of the Trans Canada Hwy in Victoria and get a shot of your bike by the sign. https://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/25313.

Bucket list are to be emptied. Do it. When I retire I plan on doing North Carolina to Vancouver then east across the continent to New Brunswick, spend some time with my family then to Halifax then to Yarmouth, take the big Cat ferry across to BarHarbor and back home.

Just make sure you're not riding every day and don't feel obligated to do 800~1,000 Kms on the days you do ride. Learn some basic yoga exercises to do daily. Drink plenty of water, I generally guzzle one bottle of water when getting fuel, and carry one bottle with me that I sip while riding. Stay away from sugary drinks and snacks and eat a light lunch so you don't get drowsy. Fuel up at the end of the day and try to get your hotel on the heading out of town side so you're not dealing with city traffic in the morning.

At 49 you're stil young, but each of us have different levels of health and genetics.......meaning you have to judge your own capabilty. I say this as I'm 66 and backed out of a 15,000Km ride on Rt66 and up to Portland and back home. My reason is I know I can't do the heavy daily miles needed to complete this trip in 3 weeks, which is the timeline the rest of the group are aiming for. I don't want to be a burden. It sounds like you're riding solo, so that's not an issue.

Good luck
brian

Well Brian, I am riding every day.
I am making a Trans Canada Quest attempt [90 hr]. I may see how it goes and shoot for a GOLD [75 hr].
-Glutton for punishment[?] Perhaps.
I've driven this before. But to ride is a true adventure. I'm hoping to vLog it - but my YouTube-Fu isn't the best...

We'll see.

Thank you for the nudge. I -may- try for the Cabot Trail [pronounced "Ca-BIT" I'm told]. We shall see...

A good friend and mentor stated that your passions aren't supposed to make sense. Many would say that it's closer to obsession... Oops.

Thank you for the link. I grew up on Vancouver Island, and have been to this very spot many times. I plan on touching the Pacific, "my Pacific" in Tofino.

Thanks for the responses and well wishes.

Cabot Trail is well worth the miles, real nice part of the world, and you can get there on 2 wheels. Good luck.

Thank you for the insight. The area is bucket list for sure. Also trying for CCW to ensure ocean side lane.
