Picked up $25 portable tach off Amazon. Always curious about my carbed bikes ignition. I bumped it up 20 years ago. I do that on a alot of carbed vehicles warm up a little better.
With the internet and amazon you have access to all kinds of stuff, and I was surprised how cheap. I got this one for $15.
I was expecting something to clamp on the spark plug wire. If I did this a lot, I would see if they made something like that. This one just has a long wire that you wrap 4-5 times around the spark plug.
Hooked it up on a bike with a tach to test. It is kind of slow, and you need to hold steady to test. But seems 50-100 rpms accurate, between steadiness and my eye looking at tach. Who knows if I will ever use again, fuel injected bikes you program idle. I got lots of small engines, but never need to check. But for $15 I would have bought it years ago for the fun of it.
I am not endorsing this one, just happened to buy it.
It comes with a velcro bad to mount it. I wanted it multiple engines. For myself, something simpler would be prefered. I put it on a harley and it worked. I am not sure how you would change it for more cylinders. It has a few settings, but without reading the instructions, I didn't know what they were.
I meant one for a V8, just like the idea track hours
Yes I assumed you did. I am not sure how the setting work. Luckily it just came out right for 2 cylinder machine.Comes with little tywrap, So maybe they intend you to just tywrap it to the plug. With the velcro I would think are intending to mounted permanent if you want too.
