I have a 07 FXSTC that Bored to a 103 with 520 cams and a thundermax ECU. Its been 6 months(7000 miles) since the break in. From the get go I experienced pinging and then accelleration issues in 1st and 2nd gear when I got on it. Like a cat chasing it tail, I suspected everything from the rebuild job to the Thundermax settings. Finally, I send a data collection to Thundermax. They quickly sent back a assessment stating I had a fuel issue related to the fuel filter or pump. I changed the filter and BINGO! runs like a scalded dog, no pinging, perfect acceleration, and I get the performance I expected when I had it rebuilt. 6 months of concern all over a faulty fuel filter!
Now, with that being said, if I get on it pior to the engine being nice and warmed up it sputters and bit, every time, but runs great after that. Is this something I need to live with and make sure the engine is fully warmed up pior to getting on the trottle, or is this a sign of something else.
Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. Contact Thundermax again. It seems they solved the bigger problem you had and may be able to solve this one as well. Worth a try!
