gonna change the fuel filter , hoses ,check valve this weekend (55k miles) question is after all back together will it prime by itself , or do I need to cycle the ing. switch a few times to get the pressure up to par ?? seems to me it will take care of itself,.

Coincidentally, I just changed the fuel filter canister, hoses, and check valve yesterday on a 2000 FLHRCI at 65,000 miles. It is not a difficult job, just a PITA. Nevertheless, after re-filling the tank, the engine started on the third try, ran rough, and stalled. It re-started and continued to run rough with the check-engine light showing. I worked the throttle to keep the engine running for a minute or two, then shut it down. I re-started the engine again and it ran a little smoother, without the check engine light showing. Took the bike out for a ride, and the engine settled down and ran smoothly, and better than it has run in quite some time.
So, short answer from my experience, is no it did not require priming to return to normal.
