best bang for the buck, I started like you only I"m retired on ss and work 25 hrs a week to keep even,my opion is to put a stock K&N replacement air filter on and a set of xieds and slipons should be able to do for less than 500.00 doing the work yourself, not knowing what year bike you have, go to nightrider and read up on the xieds, I used the rush slipons and they were fine, there are several different ones out there, you can listen to them on youtube

You mentioned "rejet", so I assume you have a pre-EFI/pre-2005 bike. If it's running good now (properly jetted), I'd suggest doing one thing at a time & see what happens, see if you can adjust out the change. If you go with a Stage I AC, re-adjust the slow jet needle, and if it doesn't pop/backfire on decel, and you actually CAN adjust the needle, then you're probably good to go so far wi no additional mods. When/if you then open up the exhaust, there's a pretty fair chance it will then be jetted lean (unless it's already been jetted richer than stock). The indications of lean jetting are (in my experience with my carbed '04 Dyna when I did a full Stage I) (a) pop/backfire on decel or throttle chop, (b) you can't stall the engine even when the slow jet needle is turned 4-5 or more turns out (out of range) and (c) plugs start to look real white/blistered. Also it will run noticeably hotter. When/if that happens, then time to pull the bowl off the carb & rejet certianly the slow jet, and possibly the main jet. I'd suggest one size larger at a time. With slow, I went from stock 45, to 48, finally to 50 before it ran/idled good without decel pop. But every bike is different, seems like. Good luck!

Yeah i was going to go with the 48 jet....Oh by the way i have a 98 dyna lowrider sorry i didnt mention that before. I am planning on starting with the "Arlen Ness Big Sucker" then moving to the "Dynojet Thunder Silde", which comes with the slow 48. but i would rather put on full pipes rather then slip ons. Slip on remind me of cherry bomb pipe and those mufflers are only good for the noise. Sorry if you have them thats just my opinion.
