Default Stage I install

I have an 04 883C Sporty and I am putting on an AN Stage I intake pretty soon and already have some straight short shot exhaust pipes on the bike. I am wondering how many people have had to rejet the carb due to lean running once they have put the Stage I kits on. Should I just rejet to one size larger and tune while I am in the process of putting on the new intake?

Thanks

put the intake on first then re-jet after that. Don't forget to adjust the air-fuel mixture screw also

I found it easier to work on the carb with the air filter removed. Plenty of videos on Youtube that describe how to disassemble a Harley CV carb.

yes it's easier, but you have to run the bike first, to see if you need re-jet

Yep. Now that I have everything back together on the bike I don't think I will be removing the air cleaner to put in new jets unless I absolutely have to. If he hasn't drilled out the plug for the air-fuel mixture screw then he will definitely need the air cleaner off (at least I could not get my drill in there). When I had the carb out I took the opportunity to add a little bit of "bling" by replacing the cheap looking black carb cover.

When I put my intake on I also put in 46/180 jets. Not hard to do, just make sure you have a good narrow flat blade screwdriver. Buy a few plugs so that you can read them after a few WOT pulls and see where you're at.
