Default Intake Question

I have a 2006 1200XLC and I put an Arlen Ness Big Sucker Stage 2 intake on it over the winter. Followed the instructions and the install went fine. I fired it up the other day and it runs fine when going. But once she has heated up pretty good, it sputters and bucks at every stop until I get going again, then it runs fine until the next stop. The bike still has the original carb on it, so I am thinking that I need to adjust the idle screw? Just wanted to see if there was anything else that needed to be done.

I put Cycle Shack 2.5" slip-ons on her last year. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks for your help!

You need to rejet/tune it.

+1 - Stage 1 air flow requires more fuel, a 45 pilot and 180 main jet is a good place to start.

I put a DK 425 intake and Rush shorty pipes on my 883R last week and only had to swap out the 42 pilot jet with a 45 since the 180 main jet came stock on my CA model. 2.5 turns out on the idle mixture screw and I'm good, or extremely close, at least. Adjust it .25 turn out from the point it begins to fart and you should be all set.

It might be most noticeable at idle, but you're running lean across your whole throttle range right now. You need bigger jets.
