Okay y'all, I am currently working on a 01 Fatboy, basically stock for a friend. Problem is bike is real lazy when you twist the throttle, under load or sitting. When you snap the throttle there isn't a lot of response, it tries to bog out. Now from my experiences, racing cars and auto mech, this should be a air fuel problem and a simple fix, but on the stock carb I have no idea where the dang adjustment screw is. Did HD hide it and I am not seeing it or is it behind a factory plug? Am I missing something.
Remove the air filter and check to see that the accelerator pump squirts gas into the throat when you twist the throttle. Keep a safe distance the first time you give it a twist just to be safe...
Also check for an intake leak.
It never hurts to disassemble the carb and clean it.

Thanks
Idle air adj. screw is located on the bottom of the carb behind the float bowl. It's capped on stock bikes, but easily removable with a drill and a sheet metal screw. It only affects from idle to about 1/8 throttle.
Sounds like you have a midrange problem. Yes... check the accelerator pump, but you will probably need to rejet and change or raise the needle.
Thanks, I will look into that. My bet it was never re jetted after the bigger pipe and air cleaner were installed. While I got it apart to do that I'll get that plug removed from the bottom of the float bowl too.
