we have done this blending - your wiring is close to the other 2 that are available 84 to 95 and then 96 to don't remember

the issue comes into play - master cylinder diameter - early was 5/8 and 3/4 - 84 95 was 5/8 and 3/4 but then it gets 9/16 and 11/16 - and early was dot 3 brake fluid it then become dot 5

you can use the wire diagram for what ever your using and blend it - clutch cable ends become a thing at times - and masters are some 10mm input some 12mm input

make sure you want what you get as they don't take that kind of thing back

Keep in mind that when you change the switches to the modern (`96 to `05?), that the housings, master cylinder and clutch lever mount must be changed also.

The wiring for the `96 up switches is a bit different as far as the turn signals go, but that is a simple mod you will make on the switch harnesses. The reason for the modification is that the `96 and later bikes used a turn signal module, your bike uses a signal flasher, so the turn signal switches need a wiring change due to the change in where they get the power from.

The rest of the wires are easy to figure out.

I just installed `96 type switches on my `89 Softail, which also uses the old style signal flasher unit like your bike.

Don`t let the electrical part of the job put you off, it`s really easy.

The tough part is digging up all the other stuff , if buying new it could get expensive.

However, I do recommend new switches, which are still available for the `96 type, from Harley, they are available with extra long harness wires also, if you need that.
